{"id":65147,"date":"2015-06-22T13:21:22","date_gmt":"2015-06-22T17:21:22","guid":{"rendered":"\/news\/?p=65147"},"modified":"2015-06-23T13:23:27","modified_gmt":"2015-06-23T17:23:27","slug":"planned-parenthood-no-new-abortion-clinics-texas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-no-new-abortion-clinics-texas\/","title":{"rendered":"Planned Parenthood: No new abortion clinics will open in Texas"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>Following a <a href=\"\/news\/pro-aborts-anguish-fifth-circuit-upholds-texas-clinic-regulations\/\">failed attempt<\/a> to get the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals to invalidate Texas abortion clinic regulations, Planned Parenthood President and CEO Cecile Richards <a href=\"http:\/\/wtop.com\/health\/2015\/06\/planned-parenthood-no-new-texas-abortion-clinics-in-works\/\" target=\"_blank\">told<\/a> the Associated Press that the abortion giant does not currently plan to build any new clinics in the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe can build compliant facilities, but unless there is a local hospital that would give admitting privilege \u2014 which is a highly political issue, not a medical issue \u2014 it&#8217;s very difficult,\u201d Richards said, but did suggest Planned Parenthood was willing to provide existing clinics with financial assistance to upgrade their facilities.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Since passage of H.B. 2 in 2013, more than half of Texas\u2019 41 abortion facilities closed their doors.
