The attackers left the young girl half dead, her face and neck horribly disfigured. What the attackers did not know is that they also left Lianna with the stirrings of a new life within her.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->\u201cIt was very violent. I honestly thought they were going to kill me,\u201d she told LifeSiteNews in a video interview in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n<p>A doctor told Lianna that she did not have to live with the consequences of the rape. She did not have to hold onto something that would constantly remind her of that horrible night, she was told.\u00a0 Abortion was her \u2018right,\u2019 she was assured.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"article-image left\" data-location=\"3\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-responsive aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/lifesite-cache.s3.amazonaws.com\/images\/made\/images\/remote\/https_s3.amazonaws.com\/lifesite\/1eb5d3b5ef5fec72299ce81526fc6994_438_562_55.jpg\" alt=\"Image\" \/><figcaption><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>But Lianna asked the doctor if abortion would help her forget the rape and ease her pain and suffering. When he replied \u2018No,\u2019 she realized that ending the baby\u2019s life would not really benefit anybody.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf abortion wasn\u2019t going to heal anything, I didn\u2019t see the point,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just knew that I had somebody inside my body. I never thought about who her biological father was. She was my kid. She was inside of me. Just knowing that she needed me, and I needed her\u2026it made me want to work, to get a job [to support her],\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Rape caused Lianna\u2019s life to become a living hell. No matter how many times she showered, she could not rid herself of feeling dirty. The idea of suicide seemed to offer the young girl instant release from so much misery, but she began to realize that she had to think not only about herself, but about the future of this little life that was blossoming within her body.<\/p>\n<p>Looking back, Lianna, 35, now realizes that her daughter saved her life and helped give her the healing she so desperately needed.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"article-image right\" data-location=\"9\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"img-responsive aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/lifesite-cache.s3.amazonaws.com\/images\/made\/images\/remote\/https_s3.amazonaws.com\/lifesite\/Lianna_Rebolledo_-_PROFILE_PHOTO_-_STAGE_594_1136_55.jpg\" alt=\"Image\" width=\"326\" height=\"624\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cIn my situation, two lives were saved. I saved my daughter\u2019s life, but she saved my life,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>On top of this, she now sees that her life after rape gained purpose and meaning precisely because of her daughter, who is now 23 and recently graduated from university.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was really hard, but just to see that little person telling me how happy she was that I gave her her life. When she said that \u2014 and she was only four years old when she told me: \u2018Mommy thank you for giving me life\u2019 \u2014 I realized that she was the one who gave me my life back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s always been there for me. She\u2019s the only person who has shown me a real love. And I always will be grateful,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Lianna says she cannot imagine life without her daughter. Astoundingly, she says that she would go through all the humiliation, pain, and suffering again if it meant knowing and loving her daughter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven though [the rape] was a very hard moment, if I had to go through that [again] just to know and to love my daughter, I would go through that again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lianna now lives in Los Angeles, California, where she runs <a href=\"http:\/\/lovinglife.org\/index.html\">Loving Life<\/a>, a non-profit organization to help raped and pregnant women.
