Pro-lifers have reason to celebrate, as the House has finally passed the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act<\/a>, with a vote of 242-184. If the bill were to become law, it would ban abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy, which is when science has conclusively shown that preborn children are able to feel pain<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The bill passed the House on the anniversary of the conviction of serial murderer and late-term abortionist Kermit Gosnell. Unfortunately, this bill still has an uphill battle ahead of it: President Obama has promised to veto the bill<\/a> if it passes both houses of Congress.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Administration strongly opposes H.R. 36, which would unacceptably restrict women’s health and reproductive rights and is an assault on a woman’s right to choose. Women should be able to make their own choices about their bodies and their health care, and Government should not inject itself into decisions best made between a woman and her doctor.<\/p>\n

… If the President were presented with this legislation, his senior advisors would recommend that he veto this bill.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It is not known whether there would be enough pro-life votes to override the presidential veto.<\/p>\n

That Obama would want to see this bill defeated is not surprising; he is the most pro-abortion president in United States history. But it does not make it any less shameful. He is blatantly putting the lobbying of the abortion industry above what Americans overwhelmingly want. Even the vast majority of Americans who consider themselves pro-choice would agree<\/a> with banning abortion after the first trimester. An incredible 84% of Americans overall would ban abortion after the first trimester<\/a> — so clearly, banning abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy is something that Americans agree with. And they’re hardly alone. The United States is one of only a small handful of countries that allows late-term abortion<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Obama isn’t doing this because he is worried about American women — women support these bans in higher numbers than men do<\/a>. He’ll veto the bill because he is in the pocket of Planned Parenthood and the abortion lobby. This is the president who voted to legalize infanticide three times<\/a>. He is siding with the extremists over the constituents he is supposed to represent — and for that, he should be ashamed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
