In response to a question poised by Republican presidential hopeful Rand Paul, the head of the Democratic National Committee, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, said there should be no government restrictions on abortion: “Period. End of story.”<\/p>\n

Wasserman Schultz made the following statements in a press release after Paul challenged her to respond to whether she would support killing a “7-pound baby in the uterus”:<\/p>\n

\u201cHere\u2019s an answer.\u00a0I support letting women and their doctors make this decision without government getting involved. Period. End of story.<\/strong>\u00a0”<\/p>\n

Wasserman Schultz’s response to abortion-on-demand is\u00a0basically\u00a0a resounding\u00a0“yes.”<\/p>\n

This is not the first time such a response<\/a> has come from the Florida congresswoman, who supports\u00a0abortion regardless what the case at hand involves. In 2013, Wasserman Schultz\u00a0opposed a bill that would have banned\u00a0late-term abortions. She also stated that it is “senseless” to punish men who use trickery or violence to force abortions on women.<\/p>\n

In response to Paul, the Florida congresswoman added:\u00a0“Now your turn, Senator Paul.\u00a0 We know you want to allow government officials like yourself to make this decision for women \u2014 but do you stand by your opposition to any exceptions, even when it comes to rape, incest, or life of the mother?\u00a0 Or do we just have different definitions of \u2018personal liberty\u2019?\u00a0 And I\u2019d appreciate it if you could respond without \u2019shushing\u2019 me.”<\/p>\n

While polls indicate that a majority of Americans support legislation banning abortion after a preborn child can feel pain – 20 weeks gestation\u00a0– the DNC head’s\u00a0comments prove how extreme, pro-abortion policies are not representative of the views of the American people.\u00a0A\u00a0Gallup poll<\/a>\u00a0shows\u00a0that only 28 percent of Americans believe that abortion should be “legal under any circumstances.”<\/p>\n

Following the 2012 presidential election,<\/a> David O’Steen of the National Right to Life Committee noted\u00a0<\/a>only 13 percent of Americans “would allow abortion for any reason, at any time.”<\/p>\n

In its 2012 Democratic National Party Platform, Democrats\u00a0called for <\/a>abortion-on-demand without restrictions, “regardless of ability to pay.” President Obama, the DNC chairwoman, and their party platform take a viewpoint only 13 percent of Americans agree with.<\/p>\n

Schultz’s statements came after the Kentucky senator was questioned by reporters during a press conference about his views on abortion.\u00a0Paul, rather,\u00a0highlighted<\/a> the extreme pro-abortion position of the Democratic National Committee and\u00a0Wasserman Schultz.\u00a0He\u00a0told reporters:<\/p>\n

\u201cHere\u2019s the deal\u00a0\u2014we always seen to have the debate way over here on what are the exact details of exemptions, or when it starts. Why don\u2019t we ask the DNC: ‘Is it okay to kill a 7-pound baby in the uterus?'”<\/p>\n

“You go back and you ask Debbie Wasserman Schultz if she\u2019s OK\u00a0with killing a 7-pound baby that is not born yet,” Paul added. “Ask her when life begins, and you ask Debbie when it\u2019s okay to protect life. When you get an answer from Debbie, get back to me.\u201d<\/p>\n
