His foundation,\u00a0the <a href=\"http:\/\/lejeuneusa.org\/\">J\u00e9r\u00f4me Lejeune Foundation,<\/a>\u00a0cares, conducts research, and advocates on behalf of individuals around the world with Down syndrome.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-61331\" src=\"https:\/\/www.liveactionnews.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Screen-Shot-2015-03-21-at-11.21.38-AM.png\" alt=\"racism, down syndrome\" width=\"297\" height=\"107\" \/>For World Down Syndrome Day &#8211; March 21, 2015 &#8211; the J\u00e9r\u00f4me Lejeune Foundation released a video titled, &#8220;Being Different; it&#8217;s Normal.&#8221; At the end, we are reminded: &#8220;To change their lives, let&#8217;s change our attitude.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>And indeed, in a nation where <a href=\"http:\/\/cnsnews.com\/news\/article\/lauretta-brown\/leona-lewis-abortion-down-syndrome-babies-hurts-my-heart\">80\u00a0to\u00a090\u00a0percent\u00a0of babies diagnosed with Down syndrome are reportedly aborted<\/a>, attitudes and actions need to drastically change.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/KTerS96PUic\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Dr. Lejeune believed strongly in the value of each human being, from the very beginning of his or her development. He<a href=\"http:\/\/lejeuneusa.org\/advocacy\/21-thoughts-dr-j%C3%A9r%C3%B4me-lejeune#.VQ2a7XZ97aY\"> said<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A month after conception, a human being is one-sixth of an inch long. The tiny heart has already been beating for a week, and the arms, legs, head and brain have already begun to take shape.<\/p>\n<p>At two months, the child would fit into a walnut shell: Curled up, she measures a little more than an inch long. Inside your closed fist, she would be invisible, and you could crush her without meaning to\u2014even without noticing.<\/p>\n<p>But if you open your hand, she is virtually complete, with hands, feet, head, internal organs, brain, everything in place. All she needs to do is grow. Look even more closely with a standard microscope, and you&#8217;ll be able to make out her fingerprints. How can a human being not be a person? &#8230; If we decide that some human beings are not persons, then what kind of society do we live in?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Is it a human being from the moment of fertilization?<\/strong><\/p>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"165.75708661417323\">Yes, because a man and a woman cannot conceive anything other than a little human being.
