Want change for your twenty-dollar bill? The group Women on 20s <\/a>(W20) does. They are leading a campaign to take President Andrew Jackson off it, and replace him with a woman from American history.<\/p>\n

Why ditch the seventh president? Well, he was a slave owner who, as W20\u2019s website explains<\/a>, \u201chelped gain Congressional passage of the \u2018Indian Removal Act of 1830\u2019 that drove Native American tribes of the Southeastern United States off their resource-rich land and into Oklahoma to make room for white European settlers. Commonly known as the Trail of Tears, the mass relocation of Indians resulted in the deaths of thousands from exposure, disease and starvation during the westward migration. Not okay.\u201d<\/p>\n

All right then, who should replace him? W20 offers a list of 15 women that the public can vote for, including one who spoke at a Klu Klux Klan rally<\/a>\u00a0and made controversial statements about\u00a0exterminating the Negro population<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"Yeah.\"

Yeah.<\/p><\/div>\n

That would be Margaret Sanger<\/a>, founder of Planned Parenthood\u2014America\u2019s largest abortion provider. If Jackson is unacceptable because of his racist track record, then W20 should really take look at Sanger\u2019s views; they were definitely not okay.<\/p>\n

Margaret Sanger was a\u00a0deeply committed eugenicist<\/a>\u00a0intent on eliminating what she called “human weed.”\u00a0She accepted an invitation to speak at a KKK meeting in 1926. In 1939, Sanger wrote a letter mentioning the \u201cignorance\u201d and \u201csuperstitions\u201d that she believed \u201ccolored Negroes\u201d to be afflicted with. Not that Sanger\u2019s animus was limited to African-Americans: immigrants, the poor, and the disabled were subject to it as well. As far as Ms. Sanger was considered, they were all \u201chuman beings who never should have been born.\u201d<\/p>\n

That legacy lives on today, with Planned Parenthood choosing to locate a disproportionate number of its abortion clinics in or near minority neighborhoods. The group\u00a0Protecting Black Life<\/a> has illustrated this <\/a>via a map combining data from the 2010 U.S. census with the location of Planned Parenthood facilities. And while unplanned children may be the primary targets at these places, their mothers aren\u2019t safe either. Former staff members at one facility\u00a0reported a \u201cmeat market<\/a>” atmosphere plagued by bloody tables and unsterilized equipment. Meanwhile, employees at other centers have been caught offering to cover up<\/a>\u00a0statutory rape and help pimps abuse\u00a0child prostitutes<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Planned Parenthood officials in multiple states have also been willing to accept donations<\/a> from people who said they wanted to see more African-American children aborted. The reasons given ranged from a belief that there\u2019s “way too many blacks in America” to being sick of affirmative action.<\/p>\n
