A Connecticut family that was forcibly transitioned from\u00a0private insurance coverage to Obamacare has won a legal battle that preserves their right not to pay hidden abortion surcharges that formerly existed in 100% of the insurance exchanges in Connecticut. Abbie and Barth Bracy and their children will now be able to pay for their insurance program and not\u00a0<\/em>for other people’s abortions in the process.\u00a0Barth also happens to be the\u00a0executive director of Rhode Island State Right to Life Committee.<\/p>\n

Working in conjunction with pro-life attorneys from Alliance Defending Freedom, the Bracys were able to remain true to their pro-life convictions, as they will not be forced to pay the abortion surcharge. Now, in fact, plans without the secret fee will be made available to residents of Connecticut. As a result of this decision on the state’s part, ADF voluntarily dismissed the lawsuit, according to LifeNews<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The lawsuit states<\/a> that the Bracys have a “sincere religious objection:”<\/p>\n

Our Constitution, laws and history forbid the government to penalize a person for his religious convictions. Yet, the Defendants interpret, apply, and enforce the Affordable Care Act to impose substantial penalties on Barth and Abbie Bracy and deny them benefits to which they are entitled because of their\u00a0sincere religious objection to paying a special surcharge to be used specifically and exclusively to pay for others\u2019 elective abortions.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

ADF Senior Counsel Casey Mattox said that the battle the Bracys have fought against Obamacare is the result of the deception pervasive in the law:<\/p>\n

Americans should not have to pay a special fee for other people\u2019s abortions in order to take care of their own family\u2019s health.The Bracy family has experienced first-hand the kind of deception<\/a> that was used to pass and that continues to pervade this law. While we are pleased that Connecticut families will now have a choice to avoid paying this abortion surcharge, it is a shame that other families won\u2019t have that choice, and that most Americans don\u2019t even know that they must pay this secret fee.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
