This week\u00a0the Supreme Court ruled in favor of religious freedom giving closely held businesses the freedom from the requirement that they purchase birth control and abortifacients for employees in their insurance plans.<\/p>\n

And Planned Parenthood is not happy.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

For months leading up to this highly anticipated decision, Planned Parenthood focused their marketing on the fact that birth control is none of your boss’s business. They had a hashtag going, and their social media focused on this message. It was all over their e-mails, too. This morning, when the decision broke, they posted on their Facebook page<\/a>:<\/p>\n

BREAKING: The Supreme Court just issued a ruling that will take birth control out of the hands of women who need it. Their decision gives employers the power to deny women the new birth control benefits of the Affordable Care Act \u2014 allowing bosses to force their personal beliefs on employees.<\/p>\n

This isn’t over. We\u2019re not going to let a handful of extreme bosses and politicians turn back the clock \u2014 we\u2019re moving forward, not backward, and we’re not done fighting for women’s access to birth control.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

First off, the Supreme Court did not rule that it’s illegal to buy contraception. Employers just don’t have to give it out or free. So it’s not being taken out of women’s\u00a0hands who “need it.”<\/p>\n

This is not just a bunch of “extreme bosses and politicians,” because logic and science tell us<\/a> that contraception\u00a0is not just a contraceptive<\/a>\u00a0and can\u00a0harm women<\/a>.<\/p>\n

We’re not trying to harm women. We’re just spreading the message that we’re meant for more than contraception.\u00a0Many women have died<\/a> from contraception use, but the harm caused by it<\/a>\u00a0is rarely reported. Maybe that’s because some people think it is essential to the American dream.<\/a><\/p>\n

However, whatever science and logic we bring to the table, Planned Parenthood just plays the victim card, saying bosses shouldn’t prevent people from getting contraception for free. They sent out a text alert this morning saying, “The Supreme Court just ruled that bosses can deny employees coverage of birth control. #NotMyBossBusiness<\/em>”<\/p>\n

I actually agree with them on this point.<\/p>\n

We live in America, where we have the right to freely realize our religious and moral beliefs. Even if you choose to ignore the science behind contraception, you are still free to purchase it. You don’t need a consultation with your boss to give you the okay.<\/p>\n

Planned Parenthood talks about how bosses have no business being in our bedrooms, and it’s true.<\/p>\n

So stop paying for birth control. By paying for birth control, we give license to those who use it. We may not be in their bedrooms, but we’re supporting what’s happening inside them. The Supreme Court decision is a step in the right direction because it’s putting the ball back in our court to personally choose to purchase contraception or not.<\/p>\n

If Planned Parenthood were the pro-choice crown they claim to be, they would be in full support of our ability to choose whether or not to buy and use\u00a0contraception.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
