The love is mutual between Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards and President Obama.<\/p><\/div>\n

President Barack Obama is a remarkably\u00a0skilled individual. Since taking office, the president has demonstrated time and again that he has an impressive talent… for dodging consequences. Seriously, it\u2019s like watching Neo dodge karate chops in The Matrix<\/em>–they just slide on past him.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This hasn’t been due to any shortage of scandals, of course. There was the \u201cFast and Furious<\/a>\u201d debacle:\u00a0an\u00a0\u201cintelligence\u201d operation in which\u00a0the Obama Justice Department had\u00a0gun dealers sell hundreds of weapons<\/a> to Mexican drug cartels. That these firearms\u00a0would\u00a0be used to commit homicides<\/a> was apparently not an issue.<\/p>\n

Then there were the IRS abuses<\/a>, which saw federal agents harass Obama\u2019s political opponents. It\u2019s also hard to forget the\u00a0phrase \u201cif you like your plan, you can keep your plan<\/a>,\u201d especially if you were one of those who, it turned out, couldn’t keep your plan. And now we have revelations coming out of the Veterans Administration that scores of vets died after being denied care<\/a>. Naturally, these facts were promptly covered up<\/a>.\u00a0Aside from holding a couple of press conferences,\u00a0President Obama hasn’t said\u00a0much about the\u00a0topic.\u00a0He did have\u00a0White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough assert that<\/a>, \u201cNobody is more outraged about this problem right now.\u201d I suspect that the families of those veterans would disagree.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s impressive here is not the number of scandals so much as the uncanny ability to get away with them. While the\u00a0poll numbers\u00a0for presidents Bush and Truman languished in the twenty-somethings at the low-points\u00a0of their respective presidencies, Obama is still holding strong with a\u00a0forty-four percent<\/a>\u00a0approval rating. The president doesn’t deserve all of the credit for this, of course; it helps to have a sympathetic media<\/a>. But while Team Obama has at least received glancing blows for the problems listed above, there\u2019s one scandal that they’ve managed to keep largely off the radar.<\/p>\n

For\u00a0six years, Live Action has\u00a0sent volunteers with hidden cameras <\/a>to clinics run by Planned Parenthood, America\u2019s largest abortion provider. The results<\/a> were less than encouraging.<\/p>\n

Some\u00a0volunteers openly presented themselves as sex traffickers <\/a>employing child prostitutes. Although most people would be disturbed by the thought that pimps are coming to them for help, the staff at these facilities seemed largely unconcerned. One of them, Amy Woodruff<\/a>, explicitly offered to set up involuntary abortions for underage foreign children who \u201ccan\u2019t speak English<\/a>\u201d and \u201cwon\u2019t know what\u2019s going on<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Other lowlights included footage of Planned Parenthood staff explaining how to commit perjury<\/a>\u00a0and cover up sexual abuse<\/a>. Live Action has created a new website<\/a> documenting these events.<\/p>\n

What was President Obama\u2019s response to all of this? After Live Action released the videos, Obama remarked that<\/a>, “So, you know, my bottom line is, that uh, I think that Planned Parenthood in the past has done good work. If there was a specific problem at this center, it should be addressed.”<\/p>\n

The president\u00a0then went on to “address” this “specific problem”\u00a0by defending<\/a> the half a billion in tax dollars that\u00a0Planned Parenthood receives. What he did not do, however,\u00a0was\u00a0have Attorney General Eric Holder investigate the organization, in spite of the fact that it’s a federal offense <\/a>to facilitate sex trafficking. Also left uninvestigated\u00a0is\u00a0evidence that the group has helped sex offenders conceal their crimes: multiple cases<\/a> have come to light in which abusers forced their victims to go to Planned Parenthood for abortions, with the abuse sometimes continuing for months <\/a>thereafter.<\/p>\n

Although President Obama isn’t running for another term, that\u2019s not the case with many of his friends on Capitol Hill. Pro-abortion senators like \u00a0Kay Hagan<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a> (NC), Mark Udall<\/span><\/span><\/a> <\/span>(CO), and Mark Begich (AK)\u00a0should be asked the hard questions for their defense of Planned Parenthood, while Americans\u00a0should also demand<\/a> that their tax dollars not be used to subsidize abuse. Like the president, Planned Parenthood has done an excellent job of dodging repercussions. It\u2019s time to make sure those consequences stop\u00a0sliding by.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
