Nevada Republicans voted on a platform amendment measure earlier this month with the intention of walking away from the abortion issue. According to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lifenews.com\/2014\/04\/14\/nevada-republican-party-strips-pro-life-language-on-abortion-from-its-platform\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Nevada Right to Life<\/span><\/a>:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">On Saturday the NV Republican party decided to drop its pro-life plank and party chairman Mike McDonald said that abortion is a small issue.\u00a0 It\u2019s not small now&#8230; \u00a0Republicans in NV have been friends of life and this sends the wrong message to their base&#8230;\u00a0The NV Republicans at the convention are overlooking the fact that on abortion pro-life is the new normal.\u00a0<a style=\"color: #154e70;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nrlc.org\/uploads\/communications\/stateofabortion2014.pdf\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Gallup<\/span><\/a>\u00a0is finding in their last series of polling that more Americans say they are pro-life than pro-choice and that almost 60 percent of Americans would ban all abortions.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Dave Hockaday of Lyon County <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reviewjournal.com\/politics\/nevada-gop-drops-platforms-against-abortions-gay-marriage-endorses-sandoval\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">explained<\/span><\/a> the reason for eradicating pro-life values from the platform:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The issue was how can we back out of people\u2019s personal lives. We need to focus on issues where we can have an impact.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Roger Stockton of Washoe county said the vote was motivated by a desire to make moderates feel welcome in the party:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\">I believe it is divisive to the party. I believe it alienates people who are within the party. We have to be the big umbrella accepting conservative and moderate candidates.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Mark Crutcher, who runs the pro-life group\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/lifetalktv.hs-sites.com\/newsroom\/pro-life-leader-says-symbol-of-gop-should-be-frilled-necked-lizard-?utm_source=facebook&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_content=4888828\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Life Dynamics<\/span><\/a>, suggested that, based on this vote, the party change should its symbol from the strong elephant to the frill-necked lizard.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>[youtube http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=XAo09yYOpCU&amp;w=420&amp;h=315]<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The elephant, Crutcher observes, is known for defending its young. Crutcher said: <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"ff6\" style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span class=\"a\" style=\"font-style: italic;\">After all, elephants are noble animals who will <\/span><span class=\"a\" style=\"font-style: italic;\">take on a pride of lions to protect their young, and no one can even remotely suggest this is true <\/span><span class=\"a\" style=\"font-style: italic;\">about the GOP&#8230;\u00a0<\/span>The bottom line is that the Republican Party seems to be comfortable doing nothing while millions of unborn babies have their arms and legs ripped off, their chests crushed and their skulls collapsed.
