Over a twelve-year period<\/em> in New York (2000 – 2012),\u00a0only forty-five inspections in total were conducted on the city’s twenty-five abortion mills.<\/p>\n

Yes, you read that correctly.<\/p>\n

Thanks to a Freedom of Information Act request by the\u00a0Chiaroscuro Foundation, a pro-life think tank, the public has been made aware of the fact that tanning salons and McDonald’s restaurants<\/a> are being inspected more frequently than the city’s abortion facilities. The New York Post<\/em> reports<\/a>:<\/p>\n

By comparison, city eateries are inspected every year and graded, while a new law requires tanning salons to undergo inspections at least once every other year.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, state officials \u2014 citing prior threats and violence against abortion providers \u2014 refused to identify the names and locations of the clinics it did inspect.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Chiaroscuro Foundation’s president, Greg Pfundstein,\u00a0was prompted to obtain the records after the unthinkable practices of Kermit Gosnell, the infamous Philadelphia abortionist, came to light. The abortionist is now behind bars for life after his “house of horrors” abortion mill, which for years had evaded inspection and been vouched for by shoddy organizations like the National Abortion Federation, came into public scrutiny.<\/p>\n

Similarly, some abortion mills have shockingly gone inspection-free for over a decade. New York’s unparalleled abortion reporting documents an extremely large number of abortions in the city — nearly 74,000 in 2012 alone. According to the Post<\/em>, the State Health Department excuses its lax outlook on abortion facility inspections with the fact that the Department\u00a0does not even maintain a list<\/em>\u00a0of every facility that performs abortions in New York, much less inspect them.
