Washington, DC (LifeNews<\/a>) A few weeks ago, my parents and my 7-year-old sister came to hear me speak during a pro-life rally in our area. Though my little sister may not understand the details about abortion, she knows that abortion kills a baby in its mommy\u2019s belly.<\/p>\n

But during the rally, my sister heard something that she had never thought about before \u2013 abortion centers.<\/p>\n

As her innocent mind processed the thought, she looked up and asked my mom, \u201cIs that where they kill the babies?\u201d<\/p>\n

\"adoption15\"<\/a>\u201cYes,\u201d my mom answered.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo they kill children there, too?\u201d my sister asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo,\u201d my mom replied. \u201cJust babies in their mom\u2019s bellies.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut they don\u2019t kill children?\u201d my sister asked again.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, it\u2019s against the law to kill children,\u201d my mom said.<\/p>\n

My sister\u2019s question\u00a0came from\u00a0a logical conclusion. If babies aren\u2019t protected then children must not be either, because there is no significant difference between a baby and a child that would justify killing one and not the other.<\/p>\n

It didn\u2019t make sense to her why some people are protected and valued in our society and others aren\u2019t. Human life can\u2019t both be valuable and not valuable. It either is or it isn\u2019t. That abortion\u2019s legal told her that human life isn\u2019t protected \u2013 and those who can\u2019t defend themselves are the most vulnerable. So, a child like herself could be killed, too.<\/p>\n

Should there be a line that determines when humans have\u00a0value? Some say it\u2019s at viability, others say when there\u2019s a heartbeat, and others say at birth. Some even argue that the ability to reason should be the dividing line, which would making killing infants ok, too.<\/p>\n

These lines we draw are so arbitrary, meaningless. My 7-year-old sister gets that. Human beings are valuable because we are human beings. And it\u2019s as plain and simple as that.<\/p>\n
