Faithit.com highlighted the story<\/a> of Mr. and Mrs. Chen, a couple that had been trying for nine years to have children of their own but were not able to.\u00a0 Their decision to adopt brought them on an unforgettable journey to California.\u00a0 When they arrived at the airport in California, Mrs. Chen was excited that their dream was about to become a reality, \u201cIn a matter of hours, what I have always, for so many years, have wanted and prayed for, is going to happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr. Chen spoke of the similarities between them adopting their son and his spiritual adoption into the family of God:<\/p>\n

Anytime I think about adoption, I think about my spiritual adoption, about how Jesus went to infinitely grater lengths to adopt me to the family of God.\u00a0 What a privilege it is in a smaller way, in a human way, live out some of the truth of the Gospel.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Upon seeing the baby first the first time, both parents were in tears.\u00a0 The waiting was over; they now had a son!\u00a0 Mrs. Chen called him \u201cthe most beautiful baby I have ever seen.\u201d\u00a0 As Mrs. Chen shared:<\/p>\n

The nurse showed us that even on his little tag that his identity was \u201cBaby Boy\u201d\u2014he didn\u2019t belong to anybody, he didn\u2019t have a name.\u00a0 But in the very instant where the nurse looked at us and said, \u201cSo what\u2019s his name,\u201d and we both said together \u201cHis name is Jacob\u201d\u2014in that very moment, instantaneously, he belonged to us, he had a name, and he was known.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

When they saw him they realized that this was the culmination of all of the years of waiting and praying:<\/p>\n

We prayed for a child, but in our prayers, there wasn\u2019t a face and there wasn\u2019t a name.\u00a0 We were just praying for a<\/i> child, just asking God to give us a<\/i> child.\u00a0 It wasn\u2019t just a<\/i> child that we were waiting for.\u00a0 It wasn\u2019t just a<\/i> child that God intended to bring into our family.\u00a0 And those years of waiting weren\u2019t just because God decided he wanted us to wait an arbitrary number of years or go through an arbitrary experience.\u00a0 All those years and all the waiting and all those prayers were for him\u2014for Jacob\u2014for our son.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
