Making a sequel creates many opportunities. It allows for continued character development and the exploration of new ideas – and, most importantly, it provides the chance to take a money-making storyline and stretch it out for decades<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Prequels also have a purpose, like telling a backstory that\u2019s only been hinted at.<\/p>\n

Previously<\/a>, I showed how the abortion industry is assisting abusive boyfriends<\/a>, sex-traffickers<\/a>, and perpetrators of gendercide<\/a> to wage a war on women<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I also explained that it helps men like Christian McQueen dispose of unwanted children<\/a> after their moms have been \u201cpumped and dumped<\/a>.\u201d The author of such literary gems as \u201cThe Ten Slut Commandments<\/a>\u201d and \u201c5 Reasons Fat Girls Don\u2019t Deserve Love<\/a>\u201d (seriously, I couldn\u2019t make this stuff up), McQueen provides advice on how you too can succeed at poppin’ bottles and f**kin\u2019 models<\/a> forever…or at least until your liver fails and you ultimately die alone. You know, whatever comes first.<\/p>\n

But before abortion could become a convenient tool for mistreating women, its fans had to fight another war – the War on Children. This involved systematically dehumanizing children before birth (and sometimes afterwards – we\u2019ll get to that later) so as to normalize their killing. The strategy has been largely successful – so successful, in fact, that the War on Children (much like the War on Women<\/a>) is federally subsidized<\/a>. What follows\u00a0is a summary of\u00a0the rhetorical\u00a0tactics used\u00a0to justify the bloodshed and keep it flowing.<\/p>\n

As\u00a0technology has improved, it\u2019s become more and more obvious that a fetus carries the traits \u00a0we associate with personhood. Further, these traits become more pronounced the longer a pregnancy lasts. Within six weeks<\/a>, an unborn baby has a\u00a0heartbeat, while unique fingerprints<\/a> can be found just 11\u00a0weeks after that. And according to research by Dr. Kanwaljeet Anand at the\u00a0University of Tennessee, a boy or girl is capable of feeling pain<\/a> 20 weeks after conception. This last point is especially relevant when one considers that the methods for aborting a child become more\u00a0gruesome\u00a0as\u00a0gestation continues:\u00a0babies\u00a0in the second\u00a0trimester\u00a0are typically\u00a0dismembered\u00a0and pulled out one piece at a time<\/a>.<\/p>\n

To counteract this problem, abortion advocates\u00a0often rely on\u00a0three rhetorical tactics. The first is to sidestep the issue and simply ignore the child\u2019s life altogether. This is done by employing euphemisms like \u201cterminating a pregnancy,\u201d \u201cremoving fetal tissue,\u201d \u201cexercising the right to choose,\u201d\u00a0and (the most nebulous of all)\u00a0“reproductive freedom.”\u00a0In July,\u00a0Beth Matusoff\u00a0Merfish wrote in the New York Times <\/em><\/a>about\u00a0gathering with\u00a0other protestors to\u00a0help disrupt\u00a0the Texas State Senate\u00a0after\u00a0Wendy Davis’s filibuster came to an end. She then went on to recount how her mother, political fundraiser Sherry Matusoff\u00a0Merfish, had aborted\u00a0an older sibling in 1972. Beth\u00a0lauded her mother’s decision to go public with this information,\u00a0feeling that it was important for the “faces of freedom” to “emerge from the captivity of shame.”\u00a0Of course, if Beth’s mom\u00a0had decided to make use of this “freedom”\u00a0a second time, then the protest that she was attending would have had one less participant.\u00a0For some reason, this fact wasn’t brought up.<\/p>\n

While choice is certainly a malleable term (Planned Parenthood representative Alisa Snow seemed to think that it can sometimes cover infanticide<\/a>), it still has its limits. So, if you\u2019ve failed to conceal the fact that a fetus is indeed alive, then it\u2019s now time to dehumanize the child with another useful word: “parasite.” Granted, an unborn baby doesn\u2019t meet<\/a> the biological definition of a parasite, but that\u2019s not really important.\u00a0The\u00a0important\u00a0thing is to portray a fetus\u00a0as being an inhuman creature with no inherent right to life.<\/p>\n

Blogger Bhagwad Jal Park attempted to do this<\/a> in a 2013\u00a0article,\u00a0when\u00a0he\u00a0described the fetus as being “a hell of a lot like a parasite,”\u00a0prone to\u00a0“sucking … nutrients out day after day”\u00a0before “rupturing” the mother’s body.\u00a0Oddly, Park’s\u00a0own history of having been an alleged\u00a0nutrient-sucking\u00a0fetal parasite\u00a0went unmentioned. Also\u00a0ignored was the fact that as an infant, Park would have continued to be wholly dependent on others for quite some time.\u00a0Thus,\u00a0it remains\u00a0unclear exactly when his parasitism ceased and he\u00a0transformed into\u00a0something resembling a person.<\/p>\n

If\u00a0both ignoring and denigrating a child\u2019s life fall short, it\u2019s now time to play the trump card of false choice. This is done by itemizing the hardships of single parenthood and then suggesting that\u00a0these toils can be avoided only by having an\u00a0abortion. The trick here is to ignore the fact that there are pregnancy care centers<\/a> to aid women in difficult situations, some of which will offer shelter<\/a> and assistance with education. Above all, one must not admit that there are long lines of couples<\/a> who will provide a loving home for a baby, as that would be one choice too many.<\/p>\n

Although this narrative has been used to stack up political victories (and body parts<\/a>) in the War on Children, its efficacy appears to be waning. Polls now show that\u00a0an increasing number of\u00a0Americans<\/a> are identifying as pro-life, with a particularly noticeable shift occurring among young people<\/a>. Further, the rate of abortion has dropped<\/a>. And, as more people have recognize that a fetus is neither a \u201cchoice\u201d nor a \u201cparasite,\u201d but rather a human being, it makes sense that they would wonder why the government is helping to abort<\/a> over three hundred\u00a0thousand human\u00a0beings every year.<\/p>\n

The policies that facilitate abortion on demand are particularly\u00a0relevant, because it’s in the political realm where the War on Children\u00a0and the War on Women overlap.\u00a0Indeed,\u00a0both of these campaigns depend on\u00a0abortion subsidies, lax safety standards, and a willingness to overlook\u00a0criminal behavior.
