This week, the Ron Paul Campaign presented the libertarian candidate’s proposals for actions he would take immediately on becoming President to balance the U.S. budget. The four-part proposal<\/a> prominently featured Paul’s commitment to defund Planned Parenthood:<\/p>\n

\u201cSecond, I will veto any spending bill that contains funding for Planned Parenthood, facilities that perform abortion and all government family planning schemes.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cLike millions of Americans, I believe that innocent life deserves protection and I am deeply offended by abortion.<\/strong> It is unconscionable to me that fellow Pro-Life Americans are forced to fund abortion through their tax dollars.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a Congressman, I\u2019ve never voted for any budget that includes funding for Planned Parenthood.<\/strong> Instead, I\u2019ve introduced the Taxpayers\u2019 Freedom of Conscience Act to cut off all taxpayer funding of abortions, so-called \u201cfamily planning\u201d services and international abortionists.<\/p>\n

\u201cThird, I will direct my administration to cease any further implementation of ObamaCare.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The fact that a more minor candidate like Paul is highlighting his position on defunding Planned Parenthood so strongly is an indication of the weight this issue carries, both in terms of media coverage and voter appeal. It’s a good sign.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
