54,000,000 plus and counting<\/a>.<\/a><\/em>\u00a0On its face \u2013 it just seems like a really big number.<\/p>\n

However, this number represents something much more than just eight meaningless digits. Each one represents a precious and innocent life brought to an unnatural end. It\u2019s unsettling that our society has normalized one of the greatest human tragedies the world has ever seen.<\/p>\n

And, this doesn\u2019t even begin to scratch the surface in calculating the number of women and families harmed by abortion.<\/p>\n

\"life\"<\/p>\n

Imagine for a moment.<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n

Here\u2019s how I think of it. Imagine that you\u2019re holding a pencil in your hand and proceed to snap it in half. You could do this with a full weight of confidence that the pencil would never become anything more significant than\u2026a pencil.<\/p>\n

This is how the abortion industry must look at preborn children: an inanimate object. Or a mass of cells and tissues that can be discarded.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Yet common sense dictates that this is blatantly untrue. Unlike the pencil, a child inside his or her mother\u2019s womb is something much more\u00a0beautiful<\/b>and\u00a0worth protecting<\/b>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0life<\/i>.<\/p>\n

A life with\u00a0successes<\/i>,\u00a0failures<\/i>, and\u00a0experiences<\/i>\u00a0that could potentially change our world.<\/p>\n

But since\u00a0Roe v Wade,\u00a0<\/i>our society has treated the baby in the womb much like that of an inanimate object:\u00a0it can simply be discarded.\u00a0<\/i>The facts are that the baby isn\u2019t just a potential life, but a life\u00a0with<\/i>\u00a0potential.<\/p>\n

Therefore, it is clear that the baby in the womb is\u00a0exceedingly more valuable in each and every way\u00a0<\/i>than a mere collection of cells and tissues.<\/i><\/p>\n

Further Hypocrisy<\/b><\/p>\n

Recently, I heard about the story of\u00a0Remee Lee<\/b>, a woman in Florida who was tricked into taking an abortion pill by her boyfriend. As she says in\u00a0this interview<\/a>, her number one goal in life was to have children one day. I can personally identify with her as one of my lifelong hopes is to be a father.<\/p>\n

When asked about if she was surprised or shocked about the pregnancy, she immediately replied that it was a\u00a0\u201cblessing.\u201d<\/i>\u00a0This dream and blessing was taken away from her very selfishly by someone she thought she loved.<\/p>\n

CNN reported<\/a>\u00a0that the boyfriend was indicted under the rarely used federal Unborn Victims of Violence Act, a murder charge that carries a life sentence. It took Florida authorities a month and a half to agree on indicting the boyfriend with murder charges. And now,\u00a0they\u2019ve\u00a0reached a plea deal that would give the boyfriend 13 years in prison for murder.<\/p>\n

This case got me thinking.\u00a0How is it that the boyfriend is being charged with murder for aborting a baby in the womb, but in every other circumstance society says \u201cit is okay?\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

Fortunately, progress is being made according to statistics from a\u00a0Huffington Post story<\/a>, which shows that abortion clinics are closing in record numbers. In that same article\u00a0Kat Sabine<\/b>\u00a0Executive Director of the pro-abortion organization\u00a0NARAL-AZ<\/b>\u00a0says, \u201cThis has turned into a nightmare.\u201d<\/p>\n

I would contend to the contrary that\u00a0wiping out an entire generation of people is the\u00a0real<\/i>\u00a0\u201cnightmare.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n

The simple truth<\/b>\u00a0is that the normalization of ending life shouldn\u2019t be okay! As human beings, we have an instinctive desire to\u00a0protect<\/i>\u00a0life.<\/p>\n

With last week marking another American tragedy \u2013 the loss of nearly 3,000 lives on\u00a0September 11<\/i>, 2001 \u2013 I was reminded that this same instinctive human quality prompted the honorable public safety personnel and civilians to rush those towers at the risk of their own lives \u2013 merely in hopes to save the life of even\u00a0one<\/i>\u00a0person.<\/p>\n

This natural human instinct is clearly evident in\u00a0Remee Lee<\/b>. After the heinous act her boyfriend committed, she is now committed to fighting for the rights of the preborn in Florida.<\/p>\n

Each and every voice in this movement matters. We have the opportunity as a society to come together and put an end to the horrific act that abortion really is. I truly believe if we make concerted efforts, that we will see an end to abortion in our lifetime.<\/p>\n
