{"id":4059,"date":"2011-06-20T17:21:22","date_gmt":"2011-06-20T21:21:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/liveaction.org\/blog\/?p=4059"},"modified":"2013-03-30T07:06:31","modified_gmt":"2013-03-30T11:06:31","slug":"live-action-continues-to-survive-planned-parenthoods-attempts-at-censorship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/live-action-continues-to-survive-planned-parenthoods-attempts-at-censorship\/","title":{"rendered":"PRO-LIFE VICTORY: Planned Parenthood&#8217;s fails at attempts to censor Live Action"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>In his recent article featured on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lifenews.com\/2011\/06\/20\/planned-parenthood-loses-bid-to-censor-expose-videos-on-youtube\/\" target=\"_blank\">LifeNews.com<\/a>, Tom Brejcha, an attorney for the Thomas More Society, outlined LiveAction&#8217;s ongoing battle with Planned Parenthood related to the latest series of LiveAction films which reveal Planned Parenthood&#8217;s cover-up of child sex trafficking.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A key part of Planned Parenthood\u2019s counterattack against Lila Rose\u2019s youth-led group, Live Action, and its staggered release early this year of damning videos depicting Planned Parenthood managers, \u201chealth professionals,\u201d and other employees willing to welcome, advise and aid &amp; abet purported \u201csex traffickers\u201d and \u201cpimps\u201d was to get YouTube to suppress the videos on the basis that they violated YouTube\u2019s published \u201cprivacy guidelines.\u201d This post recalls our long and ultimately successful effort to help Live Action defeat Planned Parenthood\u2019s counterattack.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div style=\"float: right; background-color: #eceff4; margin: 0 0 10px 20px; width: 200px;\"><\/div>\n<p>Brejcha continues by outlining the numerous videos from <a href=\"http:\/\/liveaction.org\/traffick\" target=\"_blank\">Live Action&#8217;s Trafficking series<\/a> which survived Planned Parenthood&#8217;s desperate attempts of censorship via YouTube. Among other reasons, all the Live Action videos remain on YouTube today because of their newsworthiness and the role they played in sparking Congressional debate on the topic&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>But Thomas More Society sent a third letter to YouTube, dated May 20, 2011, arguing even more strenuously that the Live Action videos fit squarely within the two exceptions carved out by YouTube\u2019s own published \u201cprivacy guidelines,\u201d that is, \u201cnewsworthiness\u201d and \u201cpublic interest.\u201d The Society\u2019s letter, signed by both TMS attorneys Tom Brejcha and Peter Breen, argued that the targeted \u201cvideo \u2026 has been thrust into the storm center of America\u2019s public policy debate over Planned Parenthood\u2019s willingness to do business with, and thereby aid and abet, sex traffickers and pimps of underage girls, many of whom \u2026 recently arrived in this country, imported here for lewd and immoral purposes in what could only be described as a form of sex slavery \u2013 an obscenely cruel bondage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Further, the letter argued:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>That all the videos\u2019 contents had been publicized far and wide by every major media outlet in the country;<\/li>\n<li>That the videos have altered America\u2019s policy debates over defunding Planned Parenthood;<\/li>\n<li>That that defunding debate proved one of the last issues defying resolution in the recent budget debate that nearly culminated in a shutdown of the government;<\/li>\n<li>That the videos figured importantly in Indiana\u2019s enacting a new defunding law;<\/li>\n<li>That the videos \u201care at or very near to the pinnacle of newsworthiness\u201d and they \u201cbear a commanding public interest of surpassing importance\u201d;<\/li>\n<li>That YouTube, if it suppresses these videos, \u201cwill have to answer to those who believe it crucial that public policy \u2013 especially the investigation and prosecution of sex criminals who prey on minors \u2013 be forged through political processes that are free, open, transparent, and fully informed with all relevant, crucial, unedited data fully accessible for all of those concerned; and that, \u201cTolerance\u201d of such gross wrongdoing masks nothing less than callous indifference to the predatory sexual exploitation of children.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This most recent letter from the Thomas More Society to YouTube drew a near-immediate response whereafter all previously suppressed videos were reinstated.
