I recently came across a\u00a0post<\/a>, complete with the video, with the shocking news that Iowa Democrats and gubernatorial candidates participated in an event praying for abortion.<\/p>\n

It may be curious that pro-choicers and Democrats are praying to God, as noted<\/a> by the The Iowa Republican<\/i>:<\/p>\n

They made the unusual decision, for Democrats, to begin the event with a prayer. This was likely in response to a prayer vigil being conducted by pro-life activists at the same time nearby.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

However, despite that those leading or participating in a prayer belong to a party that struck God from their national party platform<\/a>, and are praying for something no truly religious person should support, there may be hope.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

I recall how at a church my parents took me to they told us something about prayer. God will answer prayer in a few ways. He may say yes, He may so no, or He may say later. If He says no, it is because He has something else in mind. It is my prayer, then, that God does answer such prayers showing support for abortion, and that He answers these prayers in a way that causes further reflection and insight into the true Christian position, the pro-life position.<\/p>\n

Excerpts of the prayer included:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe give thanks, oh Lord, for the doctors, both current and future, who provide quality abortion care.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe pray for increased financial support for low-income women to access contraception, abortion and childcare.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cToday, we pray for women in developing nations, that they may know the power of self-determination. May they have access to employment, education, birth control and abortion.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cToday we pray for the families who have chosen. May they know the blessing of choice.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Doctors are certainly something to give thanks for, but for those who save lives, not take it away. I give thanks for doctors who have once performed abortions but who have had a change of heart. And since all people are deserving of prayer, I pray for the safety of abortionists, and that they may be shown love, for we are all sinners. I pray that they may repent of their actions.<\/p>\n

I pray for the increased support for low-income women, not just financially so that they will be able to provide for their children in such a way, but that they may have emotional and spiritual support, so that they may be strong enough to choose life.<\/p>\n

I pray for women not only in developing nations, but in already developed nations, so that they may have the sense of self-determination and knowledge to know that abortion does not necessarily make a nation developed.<\/p>\n

I pray for the families who have chosen abortion, so that they may find healing from this choice which is often mis-categorized as a “blessing.”<\/p>\n

It may be scandalous that there are those who pray to God, a God of love and life, for the destruction of innocence and the wounding of women. However, if you read\u00a0the entire piece from\u00a0The Iowa Republican<\/em>, it may not be so surprising, given the track record of these gubernatorial candidates who seem to have a distorted fixation for and love affair with abortion. Again, it is my<\/em> prayer that God uses the faith of these people to guide them towards the more Christian perspective.<\/p>\n
