{"id":40015,"date":"2013-08-30T00:03:42","date_gmt":"2013-08-30T04:03:42","guid":{"rendered":"\/news\/?p=40015"},"modified":"2016-09-08T16:06:14","modified_gmt":"2016-09-08T20:06:14","slug":"1-million-death-perot-foundation-gives-planned-parnethood-large-donation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/1-million-death-perot-foundation-gives-planned-parnethood-large-donation\/","title":{"rendered":"$1 million for death: Perot Foundation gives Planned Parenthood large donation"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas again demonstrates the sad reality of the clich\u00e9 \u201cthe rich get richer.\u201d Though it had an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guidestar.org\/FinDocuments\/2011\/521\/243\/2011-521243220-0893aa4a-9.pdf\">income of $22,296,294<\/a> in its last reported fiscal year, it continues to lament its poverty at the state of Texas cutting funding to the organization &#8211; and now rejoices that the Perot Foundation has donated $1 million to help sustain death instead of life.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/news\/metro\/20130829-perot-foundation-announces-1-million-gift-to-planned-parenthood-of-greater-texas.ece\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Dallas Morning News<\/em> reports<\/a> that the foundation was making the donation at a time when \u201csome charities are distancing themselves from the major provider of women\u2019s health services.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/news\/metro\/20130829-perot-foundation-announces-1-million-gift-to-planned-parenthood-of-greater-texas.ece\" target=\"_blank\">paper reports<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">For nearly 100 years Planned Parenthood has helped to educate men and women regarding family planning and general family health,\u201d Margot Perot said in a written statement through Planned Parenthood. \u201cOur family has supported this nonprofit for many years because we are impressed with the work they do \u2014 providing birth control, scientifically-based education, breast health exams, and basic life-saving healthcare for women who cannot afford services otherwise.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Ms. Perot is incorrect about Planned Parenthood providing general family health, of course. Planned Parenthood provides abortion, birth control, and a few limited services.<\/p>\n<p>The charity of H. Ross Perot, former presidential candidate, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guidestar.org\/FinDocuments\/2011\/756\/093\/2011-756093258-08d4c938-F.pdf\">has given money<\/a> to places that help foster life and mental health, to noble organizations such as Campus Crusade for Christ and various Dallas-area churches, to cancer research, and to colleges and food banks. By all accounts, they seem to support life and health in their community &#8211; except when they walk into death. Somehow last year\u2019s $15,000 donation to Planned Parenthood turned into $1 million. However, Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas seems to be doing just fine financially, according to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guidestar.org\/FinDocuments\/2011\/521\/243\/2011-521243220-0893aa4a-9.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">its IRS Form 990<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Screen-Shot-2013-08-29-at-4.39.36-PM.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-40019\" src=\"\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Screen-Shot-2013-08-29-at-4.39.36-PM-300x99.png\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2013-08-29 at 4.39.36 PM\" width=\"305\" height=\"100\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Screen-Shot-2013-08-29-at-4.39.36-PM-300x99.png 300w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Screen-Shot-2013-08-29-at-4.39.36-PM.png 627w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 305px) 100vw, 305px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Screen-Shot-2013-08-29-at-4.42.38-PM.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-40018 aligncenter\" src=\"\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Screen-Shot-2013-08-29-at-4.42.38-PM-300x140.png\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2013-08-29 at 4.42.38 PM\" width=\"300\" height=\"140\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Screen-Shot-2013-08-29-at-4.42.38-PM-300x140.png 300w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Screen-Shot-2013-08-29-at-4.42.38-PM.png 829w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Planned Parenthood: where there are no mammograms or anything beyond basic cancer screenings that have to be referred out to other places. Planned Parenthood: where parental care doesn&#8217;t happen unless someone wants the baby dead before he or she can live outside the womb. Planned Parenthood: where the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lifenews.com\/2012\/03\/30\/planned-parenthood-builds-new-texas-abortion-biz-near-adoption-ctr\/\">same affiliate recently built a new abortion clinic in Fort Worth<\/a>, despite being \u201cpoor.\u201d How can this be a worthy recipient of one of the larger donations the Perot Foundation has made recently?<\/p>\n<p>Nationwide, Planned Parenthood continues to boast its riches. Its <a href=\"http:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/about-us\/annual-report-4661.htm\">last annual report<\/a>\u00a0shows that the organization took in $538.5 million in government money in the same fiscal year.<\/p>\n<p>However, it should come as no surprise to pro-lifers that the Perot Foundation supports abortion, for Perot himself actually has a record of being pro-abortion.<\/p>\n<p>Sadly, the area served by Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas has so many real needs for life, for hope, for relief from poverty, better comprehensive health care, and it\u2019s a true shame that an organization that exists to donate money to those with worthy needs would instead choose a large affiliate of the nation\u2019s largest abortion provider to make such a large gift.<\/p>\n<p>One million dollars for death is nothing to advertise.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas again demonstrates the sad reality of the clich\u00e9 \u201cthe rich get richer.\u201d Though it had an income of $22,296,294 in its last reported fiscal year, it continues to lament its poverty at the state of Texas cutting funding to the organization &#8211;
