The women at feminist blog Jezebel aren’t happy<\/a> that pro-lifers have discovered the \u201cbro-choice\u201d movement. While dismissing the movement as \u201ctongue in cheek,\u201d Jezebel claims that \u201cbro-choice\u201d quotes and articles are being \u201cpassed \u2026 from fetus fanatic to fetus fanatic\u201d in a \u201cpathetic quest for relevancy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"megaphone-man\"I\u2019m not surprised that feminists are unhappy that sites like this one are exposing the bro-choice movement – and not because it\u2019s silly and irrelevant. It\u2019s because \u201cbro-choicers\u201d have coughed up a series of appalling quotes explaining why men should support abortion.<\/p>\n

The most infamous so far came from Ben Sherman of the Burnt Orange Report<\/a>, who said Texas men should support abortion because their \u201csex lives are at stake\u201d:<\/p>\n

For those of us guys who like girls — you know, like<\/i> them like them — and want to have relationships with them that may last anywhere from a few minutes to many years<\/b>, we need to think about how this\u2026hurts us, too. Can you think of anything that kills the vibe faster than a woman fearing a back-alley abortion?…And don’t be surprised if casual sex outside of relationships becomes far more difficult to come by.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Emphasis mine. (I know – talk about a keeper! Back off, girls, he\u2019s mine<\/i>!)<\/p>\n

Other bro-choicers at Gawker echoed Sherman\u2019s sentiment, saying abortion allows them to have admittedly \u201ccareless\u201d unprotected sex with women, and then get out of paying child support. Wrote commenter \u201cBrutal_Tooth\u201d under an article about the Texas abortion bill<\/a>:<\/p>\n

I’m 29 and not every person I sleep with is someone I’d consider raising a family with. The idea of knocking someone up (through carelessness, duplicity, condom failure) who ignores my life goals and desires to complete their own biological imperative with my DNA, and later my finances, really comes off as a little…. blackmail-y.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Then there\u2019s this gem<\/a>, a video by conservative activist Caleb Bonham, who \u201cdressed up as a \u2018bro\u2019 to find out if the \u2018bro-choice\u2019 movement supports abortion just so they can have casual sex.\u201d<\/p>\n

Short answer: yes. Students from the University of Colorado wholeheartedly agreed that Bonham \u201cwon\u2019t get laid as often\u201d without unfettered access to abortion. As one said, \u201c[b]ro-choice is the right choice. Because, you know, if you wanna get laid – which is what college is about – you best go with the bro-choice.\u201d<\/p>\n

Charming. No wonder feminists want the \u201cbro-choicers\u201d to quietly go away: these young men are unashamed to admit that their reasons for supporting abortion aren’t exactly \u201cpro-woman.\u201d<\/p>\n
