On Saturday night, George Zimmerman was found not guilty of second-degree murder and manslaughter in the death of Trayvon Martin. Zimmerman claimed self-defense. However, there is still the possibility of a civil lawsuit, and the NAACP is calling<\/a> for the Department of Justice to get involved. Here is their petition:<\/p>\n

Attorney General Eric Holder,<\/p>\n

The Department of Justice has closely monitored the State of Florida’s prosecution of the case against George Zimmerman in the Trayvon Martin murder since it began. Today, with the acquittal of George Zimmerman, it is time for the Department of Justice to act.<\/p>\n

The most fundamental of civil rights \u2014 the right to life \u2014 was violated the night George Zimmerman stalked and then took the life of Trayvon Martin. We ask that the Department of Justice file civil rights charges against Mr. Zimmerman for this egregious violation.<\/p>\n

Please address the travesties of the tragic death of Trayvon Martin by acting today.<\/p>\n

Regardless of your thoughts on the outcome of the trial, we can all agree that the death of Trayvon Martin is saddening. The NAACP certainly feels that way. It is curious that they would call the right to life “[t]he most fundamental of civil rights,” however. This is indeed true, but it is hypocritical of such a group to apply this right to a young man such as Trayvon Martin, but not to unborn babies.<\/p>\n

The NAACP formally claims not to take a stance on abortion. It is impossible to take such a claim seriously when we consider the NAACP’s actions on the issue. Ryan Bomberger, co-founder of the Radiance Foundation, discusses this in an\u00a0article<\/a>\u00a0from LifeNews.com. The article contains a fact sheet,\u00a0“YOU DECIDE<\/a>,” which can be found on TooManyAborted.com, an outreach program of the Radiance Foundation.<\/p>\n

In 2004, Julian Bond, NAACP Chairman, actually boasted at a NARAL gala that African-American women “exercise that precious right at a rate far exceeding their percentage of the population.” How are those numbers something to be proud of unless you are pro-abortion? And when you refer to abortion as “that precious right,” it sounds like you think of that right as a good thing, as in you are pro that so-called right.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, Bond is correct<\/a> on his percentage. African-American women aren’t just “exercis[ing] that precious right”; they are killing off countless black children. Another fact sheet from TooManyAborted.com explains how abortion is the “NUMBER ONE KILLER<\/a>” of African-Americans.<\/p>\n

Perhaps even more alarming than boasting of such high abortion rates is that the NAACP really doesn’t seem to like the pro-life side. The group has called out pro-life advertisements as “racist.” But in 2010 the national NAACP also pressured a Georgia chapter of the NAACP to withdraw<\/a> its support for a state bill to ban abortions based on race. The NAACP then\u00a0opposed<\/a> Congressman Trent Franks’s 2011 Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act banning abortions based on race or sex. And in Arizona<\/a>, a branch of the NAACP is even part of a lawsuit against a state ban on abortions based on race or sex. Such a move demonstrates being \u00a0in favor of not only abortion, but also the destruction of one’s own race.<\/p>\n

Trayvon Martin’s death at such a young age is a tragedy, but if the NAACP really cared about the “right to life” and wanted to help young black children, it would extend its concern to all black children – including those waiting to be born.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
