Texas State Senator Wendy Davis is the latest in a long line of media darlings, along with Sandra Fluke, christened for celebrity sainthood for their opposition to anti-abortion laws.<\/p>\n<p>Three major Sunday talk shows prominently featured Wendy, the \u201cHarvard educated lawyer mom of two\u201d who <a href=\"\/news\/hypocrite-wendy-davis-makes-a-name-for-herself-while-destroying-safety-for-women\/\">filibustered for 12 hours<\/a> a bill which would have banned abortions after the 20<sup>th<\/sup> week of pregnancy. The legislation would have required doctors to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals. It limited abortions to surgical centers and stipulated that doctors must monitor even non-surgical abortions. The media\u2019s new Wendy Darling waltzed through the talk shows, unscathed and unchallenged as the new star on the D.C. circuit, and dubbed the next rising Democratic star in Texas.<\/p>\n<p><b>What is the media\u2019s purpose for creating celebrities?<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Putting a pretty face on abortion<\/li>\n<li>Distracting the public attention from the issues<\/li>\n<li>Shutting down debate on the issues<\/li>\n<li>Drowning out dissent<\/li>\n<li>Providing the administration with a celebrity and fresh face to promote its agenda<\/li>\n<li>Disguising the media\u2019s bias as pro abortion<\/li>\n<li>Feeding into the public\u2019s hero worship of celebrities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"attachment_33348\" style=\"width: 252px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/00notinhershoes.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-33348\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-33348   \" alt=\"These are the pink shoes we should all be talking about...\" src=\"\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/00notinhershoes.jpg\" width=\"242\" height=\"181\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/00notinhershoes.jpg 960w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/00notinhershoes-300x224.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 242px) 100vw, 242px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-33348\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">These are the pink shoes we should all be talking about&#8230;<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Instead of talking about the reality of abortion, or the terms of the pending bill, or the brutality of Kermit Gosnell, the media talks about Davis\u2019s cool pink gym shoes that she wore during the filibuster. The superficial is now the order of the day. The celebrity-drenched culture plays out in politics and in Washington, D.C. Is there a media-anointed celebrity who is pro-life? Don\u2019t bother looking for one.<\/p>\n<p><b>It\u2019s All Orchestrated, Planned, and Choreographed <\/b><\/p>\n<p>Make no mistake about it: Wendy Davis\u2019s debut on the national stage was carefully and strategically orchestrated by the Democratic Party and its right arm, Planned Parenthood. After the Gosnell debacle, the abortion advocates were desperately searching for a pretty new face to push the abortion agenda. They found her deep in the heart of Texas.<\/p>\n<p>The starstruck media left virtually unchallenged her assertion that women would die if this bill passed the Texas Senate. But it sounds like Texas learned some important lessons from Philadelphia. It sure appears that women\u2019s reproductive health will be protected in the Lone Star State, unless you prefer unregulated late-term abortion clinics like Kermit Gosnell\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p><b>The Benefits of the Abortion Pin-Up Poster<\/b><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_12544\" style=\"width: 388px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/fluke.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12544\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-12544 \" alt=\"Sandra Fluke\" src=\"\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/fluke.jpg\" width=\"378\" height=\"202\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/fluke.jpg 472w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/fluke-300x160.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 378px) 100vw, 378px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-12544\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sandra Fluke.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Just ask Sandra Fluke about the adulation, the star power, and rubbing shoulders with the high and mighty. You might recall that Sandra skyrocketed to media prominence in a carefully orchestrated House appearance on the importance of requiring insurance plans to cover birth control during a debate on whether insurance should have a contraception mandate. Ms. Fluke was the ideal poster girl, a law student at Georgetown, a Catholic university. She, too, skated through the Sunday talk shows as the hosts threw her softball questions.<\/p>\n<p>Having kept up her end of the bargain, the benefits to Ms. Fluke started rolling in. She appeared on many of the daytime time shows. Surprise, surprise: Fluke supported Obama\u2019s re-election campaign. She introduced Obama at a Denver rally, and best of all, Sandra Fluke, Georgetown law student, was a featured speaker at the 2012 Democratic National Convention!<\/p>\n<p>Pro-abortion liberals are great at manufacturing celebrities, but not real debates.<\/p>\n<p>But perhaps those pink gym shoes will come in handy for all the baby girls born in Texas when the bill passes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Anything to avoid the real issue.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":325,"featured_media":37376,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"om_disable_all_campaigns":false},"categories":[3],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v20.7 -
