{"id":37757,"date":"2013-07-17T15:11:24","date_gmt":"2013-07-17T19:11:24","guid":{"rendered":"\/news\/?p=37757"},"modified":"2013-07-19T10:42:36","modified_gmt":"2013-07-19T14:42:36","slug":"planned-parenthood-the-big-lie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-the-big-lie\/","title":{"rendered":"Planned Parenthood: The big lie"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>In today\u2019s culture, the word &#8220;temperance&#8221; is likely to conjure up images of monochromatic clothing, stern Sunday schoolmarms, or puritanical attempts by society to curb alcohol consumption. For many, these are hardly images that lend the word a welcome connotation.<\/p>\n<p>In reality, though, temperance, strictly <a href=\"http:\/\/www.merriam-webster.com\/dictionary\/temperance\">defined<\/a>, is \u201ca habitual moderation in the indulgence of the appetites or passions.\u201d Or, simply put, \u201crestraint.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, we live in a society in which temperance is virtually unheard of and that believes that the passions are meant to be indulged. It\u2019s no wonder this attitude translates into the arena in which children as young as kindergarten are indoctrinated into sexual activity while abortion is presented as the \u201cout\u201d from any consequences. Planned Parenthood \u2013 the nation\u2019s largest abortion provider \u2013 even has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/resources\/implementing-sex-education-23516.htm\">guidelines<\/a> for implementing sex education in schools. Nothing like encouraging children towards sexual activity and then pointing them directly to the abortion clinic.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-24789\" style=\"margin-left: 15px; margin-top: 6px; margin-bottom: 6px;\" alt=\"deception lie truth\" src=\"\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/deception.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"187\" \/>Think about it, though. In what areas does our society not believe that \u201cgiving in\u201d is the way to go? We want to look fit but not give up junk food, so we find artificial sugar and fat substitutes that allow us to indulge. Our physical health suffers for it, of course, but hey, we look good. So it must be okay.<\/p>\n<p>We want the fulfillment of a relationship but not the discipline of marriage, so we divorce (or cheat on) our spouses and find someone else, offering the excuse that we\u2019re just \u201cfollowing our hearts.\u201d Our emotional health suffers for it, of course, but hey, we look happy. So it must be okay. We want to have nice things but not discipline ourselves to save for them. So we rack up thousands of dollars of debt. Our financial health suffers for it, but hey, we look \u201cset.\u201d So it must be okay.<\/p>\n<p>Is it any wonder, then, that \u201cself\u201d has become the object of obeisance for Planned Parenthood and the pro-abortion movement in general? Sleep with whomever you want; use protection, and get rid of any \u201cunwanted pregnancy.\u201d Of course, the emotional, psychological, and often physical health of women and young girls suffers for it (not to mention the life of the baby), but hey, women look liberated. So it must be okay.<\/p>\n<p>But in reality, it\u2019s not okay. Planned Parenthood <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2006\/03\/10\/nyregion\/10lives.html?_r=0\">claims<\/a> to be in favor of reducing the number of abortions \u2013 even so far as calling itself a leader in reducing the need for abortions. Yet as long as Planned Parenthood keeps leading kids to the bedroom under the guise of \u201ceducation\u201d and then driving them to the abortion clinic under the guise of \u201cchoice,\u201d their actions decry their claim.<\/p>\n<p>Sure, temperance is considered a bad word today \u2013 good heavens, who even knows anymore what it means? But there\u2019s a reason it\u2019s a virtue (another unknown word). And if PPFA really wanted to reduce the number of abortions, they would increase talk of temperance.<\/p>\n<p>But I\u2019m not holding my breath.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Reducing abortions?
