This bill allows the state to cover the difference for the Medicaid reimbursements and ensures we don\u2019t have to close our doors to those patients.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Why It Matters:<\/h2>\n<p>Though Planned Parenthood markets itself as a legitimate health care provider, its actual health care services have <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/top-myths-debunked-planned-parenthood\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">decreased<\/a> over the years while the number of abortions it commits has <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/decade-planned-parenthood-abortions-high-health-plummet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">increased<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cancer screenings overall: <strong>Down 79%<\/strong> since 2004<\/li>\n<li>Breast cancer screenings: <strong>Down over 80%<\/strong> since 2000<\/li>\n<li>Pap tests: <strong>Down 83%<\/strong> since 2004<\/li>\n<li>Prenatal care: <strong>Down 80%<\/strong> since 2010<\/li>\n<li>STI treatments: <strong>Down 19%<\/strong> since 2019<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Meanwhile, abortions have <strong>increased by 100%<\/strong> since 2000.<\/p>\n<p>Planned Parenthood also only serves an estimated <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/top-myths-debunked-planned-parenthood\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">two percent (2%) of American women<\/a> of reproductive age; it is hardly a provider upon which women rely.<\/p>\n<p>For people seeking real health care, Planned Parenthood is far outnumbered by Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) and other non-profit clinics. In 2023, for example, FQHCs had 15,000 location sites, compared to just 600 Planned Parenthood facilities the same year.<\/p>\n<p>Unsurprisingly, FQHCs serve significantly more people, providing cancer screenings, prenatal care, and other actual health care services.<\/p>\n<p><center><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uOxRD4u5n78?si=7TlvcOqjCokRa0gw\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/center>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Defenders of Planned Parenthood argue that the taxpayer dollars given to the abortion chain do not violate the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits federal dollars from being spent on abortion. Yet that money is <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/yes-your-tax-dollars-fund-abortions-at-planned-parenthood\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fungible<\/a>, freeing up funding that would have paid for salaries, facility rent, and general overhead to go towards abortion instead.<\/p>\n<p>And despite constant complaints of how cutting Medicaid reimbursement to Planned Parenthood would devastate women, Planned Parenthood is receiving <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/report-details-planned-parenthood-record-abortions-funding\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">record-high<\/a> taxpayer dollars, all while <em>also<\/em> reporting the highest ever net assets and total liabilities.<\/p>\n<h2>The Bottom Line:<\/h2>\n<p>Women deserve better than Planned Parenthood.
