Then, in <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/walgreens-cvs-dispensing-abortion-drug-kills-human\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">March of 2024<\/a> both CVS and Walgreens announced that they had begun dispensing the drug regimen, which intentionally kills preborn human beings. In the Spring of 2024:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Walgreens Boots Alliance <a href=\"https:\/\/www.walgreensbootsalliance.com\/walgreens-mifepristone-resource-hub\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stated<\/a> it had \u201ccompleted the FDA certification process to dispense mifepristone&#8221; and was &#8220;now dispensing, consistent with federal and state laws.&#8221; Walgreens began a &#8220;phased rollout\u201d in &#8220;New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, California, and Illinois.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>CVS Health <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cvshealth.com\/news\/pharmacy\/mifepristone-dispensing-at-cvs-pharmacy.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a> that its \u201cretail locations have begun filling prescriptions for mifepristone in select states where legally permissible,&#8221; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Pro-life Waco, led by John Pisciotta has <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/5-reasons-abortion-pill-pharmacy-cvs-walgreens\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">begun protesting<\/a> outside CVS and Walgreens, to pressure them to stop dispensing these drugs.<\/p>\n<h2>The Details:<\/h2>\n<p>Recently, CVS, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cvshealth.com\/news\/company-news\/cvs-health-statement-on-accepted-rite-aid-asset-bids.html#:~:text=About%20CVS%20Health,outcomes%2C%20and%20lowering%20overall%20costs.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">operates<\/a> more than 9,000 locations nationwide, &#8220;acquir[ed] the prescription files of 625 Rite Aid pharmacies across 15 states&#8221; and had acquired and began to operate &#8220;64 Rite Aid stores in Idaho, Oregon and Washington,&#8221; according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cvshealth.com\/news\/company-news\/cvs-health-statement-on-accepted-rite-aid-asset-bids.html#:~:text=About%20CVS%20Health,outcomes%2C%20and%20lowering%20overall%20costs.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">May 2025 release<\/a>. In October of last year, CVS Health <a href=\"https:\/\/www.upi.com\/Top_News\/US\/2024\/10\/18\/CVS-new-CEO-Joyner\/6491729256101\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">named<\/a> David Joyner as its new CEO, replacing Karen Lynch.<\/p>\n<p>Today, Walgreens <a href=\"https:\/\/www.walgreensbootsalliance.com\/about-us\">operates<\/a> &#8220;approximately 12,500 locations across the U.S., Europe and Latin America.&#8221; The company, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.walgreensbootsalliance.com\/about-us\/leadership\/tim-wentworth#:~:text=COMMITTEE%20%2D%20U.S.%2DBASED-,Tim%20Wentworth,%2C%20Walgreens%20Boots%20Alliance%2C%20Inc.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">led<\/a> by CEO Tim Wentworth, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/walgreens-cvs-sell-drugs-intentionally-kill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">previously said<\/a> it would not identify which of its pharmacies would carry the drug \u201cin the interest of pharmacist and patient safety.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While CVS and Walgreens capitulate to <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/senators-demand-walmart-costco-abortion-pill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">political pressure,<\/a> reports <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/report-costco-decided-not-dispense-abortion-pill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">indicate<\/a> that several retailers have thus far resisted. In 2024, Kroger and Sam\u2019s Club websites <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/kroger-sams-club-third-party-vendors-abortion-pill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">suggested<\/a>\u00a0their pharmacies were dispensing the abortion pill, the companies claimed this was the result of a third-party error.<\/p>\n<p>An independent search at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.samsclub.com\/pharmacy\/rxsavings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sam&#8217;s Club<\/a> pharmacy by Live Action News indicates the drugs are not available, and on August 14, 2025, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.ph\/XL0lo#selection-1625.0-1629.346\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bloomberg News reported<\/a> that &#8220;Kroger said it has never offered the abortion pill and continues to evaluate the regulatory environment.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Walmart and Albertsons currently do not offer the medicine. Walmart and Albertsons declined to comment,&#8221; Bloomberg News added. Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV), who called on the chains to follow through with Food &amp; Drug Administration (FDA) guidance updates finalized in 2023 allowing mifepristone to be dispensed and sold at pharmacies,&#8221; the media outlet claimed, adding:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>When drug wholesaler AmerisourceBergen [recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amerisourcebergen.com\/foundation-cencora\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">renamed<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wearegnp.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cencora<\/a>] and retail pharmacy chain Walgreens <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/03\/07\/business\/walgreens-abortion-pill.html\">announced<\/a>\u00a0last March they would not move forward with dispensing the pill in states where they faced legal blowback from Republicans \u2014 potentially imperiling access in other states where abortion is legal, given the need for a certification process from the FDA \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cortezmasto.senate.gov\/news\/in-the-news\/icymi-following-cortez-mastos-advocacy-cvs-and-walgreens-begin-dispensing-mifepristone-in-nevada\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cortez Masto pounced<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In both public letters and private conversations, the senator made the case that the patchwork of state abortion laws should not preclude Nevadans&#8230;&#8221; the Independent added. &#8220;Two <a href=\"https:\/\/genbiopro.com\/roster\/\">independent pharmacies<\/a> \u2014 A1C Pharmacy in Las Vegas and three locations of Renown Pharmacy in Reno \u2014 have also elected to begin dispensing mifepristone,&#8221; the outlet claimed at that time.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>CVS and Walgreens Expand<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>CVS:<\/strong> CVS Health was <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/walgreens-cvs-sell-drugs-intentionally-kill\/\">certified<\/a> by GenBioPro (generic U.S. abortion pill manufacturer) and was originally dispensing in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, GenBioPro&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/genbiopro.com\/products\/mifepristone\/prescribers\/roster\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a> now reveals that CVS is dispensing the abortion pill in 22 states as well as the District of Columbia (DC). These include:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>California, Colorado, Connecticut, DC, Delaware, Hawai&#8217;i, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, Vermont, and Washington.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Walgreens:<\/strong> Live Action News <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/walgreens-cvs-sell-drugs-intentionally-kill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">previously<\/a> documented that Walgreens had been certified to dispense the drugs by Danco Laboratories (name brand U.S. manufacturer), a fact also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.earlyoptionpill.com\/how-do-i-get-mifeprex\/find-a-certified-pharmacy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">confirmed<\/a> on the drug manufacturer&#8217;s website.<\/p>\n<p>At the time of the original announcement, Walgreens indicated that it was seeking certification from the generic manufacturer GenBioPro, however, GBP has <a href=\"https:\/\/genbiopro.com\/products\/mifepristone\/prescribers\/roster\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">not indicated<\/a> that this has occurred.
