Davis was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azfamily.com\/2025\/08\/07\/murder-suspect-claims-he-was-ordered-kill-pregnant-teen-phoenix-park\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">alleged to be<\/a> the father of Dodd&#8217;s preborn child, while James-Gillett was her current boyfriend. Dodd was found shot in the head on the morning of July 5 in a Phoenix park.<\/p>\n<p>Dodd, who was living in a group home, reportedly told her caseworker in December 2024 that Davis had forced her to have sex with him by threatening her with a gun. A spokesperson with the Department of Child Safety told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox10phoenix.com\/news\/zariah-dodd-murder-teen-told-dcs-worker-she-was-intimidated-suspect-have-sex-pd-says\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FOX10<\/a> that the caseworker notified police about the incident. Before her death, Dodd was supposed to speak with police about those allegations.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azfamily.com\/2025\/08\/07\/murder-suspect-claims-he-was-ordered-kill-pregnant-teen-phoenix-park\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AZ Family<\/a>, Dodd received permission from her case worker to go for a walk on the evening of July 4. While on her walk, she was picked up by the two men. Texts sent to a friend indicated that she was afraid, as she wrote, &#8220;We are literally driving in circles.\u201d Her body was found hours later.<\/p>\n<p>After the discovery of Dodd&#8217;s body, police traced the crime back to Davis and James-Gillett; James-Gillett later &#8220;made a full confession,&#8221; and told police that Davis had threatened to kill him if he didn&#8217;t shoot Dodd.<\/p>\n<p>Both men are being charged with two counts of first-degree murder, with one count for Dodd\u2019s preborn child.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/sp06i8YXF-Y?si=7hgAF9rd082uC3mU\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The investigation established that Davis was the father of Zariah\u2019s unborn child. It also showed that the two suspects conspired to commit and carried out the homicide,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox10phoenix.com\/news\/new-charges-filed-against-man-accused-zariah-dodds-murder\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> Phoenix Police Sgt. Rob Scherer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey felt it necessary to take this 16-year-old\u2019s life who had an unborn child,\u201d Scherer said. \u201cTo be able to rationalize that being okay and then actually putting a plan together and executing that plan, it\u2019s imperative that people like this are off the street.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Since his arrest for Dodd&#8217;s murder, Davis has been served with at least 20 additional charges involving a separate 17-year-old girl, including 11 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, three counts of luring a minor for sex exploitation, two counts of child enticement using an electronic device, four counts of sexual conduct with a minor and eight counts of disobeying or resisting an order of the court.<\/p>\n<h2>The Bottom Line:<\/h2>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abc15.com\/news\/crime\/man-accused-of-killing-pregnant-16-year-old-has-longstanding-history-of-sexual-abuse-of-minors?fbclid=IwY2xjawMHOkFleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHtfFI8aOB1boNNsFpnUblgr1n4TKvjx8Cw08RzkdoamGsqAEHJJNC5WIcUct_aem_NHdOrC33hZ9JGx7DCJ1UCA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ABC15<\/a>, Davis has a track record of sexual abuse allegations dating all the way back to 2007, when he was accused of having sex with a 14-year-old girl while he was 19.
