That photo served as the only connection Randall had to her birth mother.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe was saying goodbye to me and handing me to my mom,\u201d Randall said. \u201cMy mom was comforting her, knowing that this young girl had made the ultimate sacrifice to allow her to become a mother.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was in tears,\u201d Lindsay told the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idahostatejournal.com\/news\/local\/piece-of-my-heart-local-mother-reunites-with-daughter-she-gave-up-for-adoption-24\/article_b96f3fff-eccc-4f2f-af0e-19349d3f3aae.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Idaho State Journal<\/a> about the experience. \u201cIt was a mixture of love and joy at the same time. As soon as I put Naomi in their arms, I walked out and I heard her cry, and as a mother, you want to turn around and go back and comfort your child. I said, \u2018No, this was the best thing for her. I\u2019m very young. I\u2019m 17 years old.'&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Randall told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eastidahonews.com\/2025\/08\/idaho-woman-living-a-movie-after-finding-biological-family-on-facebook-after-24-years\/?fbclid=IwQ0xDSwMBL45leHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHtPV7hw-9rPBcb57KOlSXN1U6cbubUxzEBUmscjrBQ6WOgCiuSBRMPw_gcSm_aem_L__CpVwJV-UtdLagt-t6Ew\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">East Idaho News<\/a> that she always knew she was adopted, as it was something her parents never tried to hide. They also spoke highly of her birth mother and the sacrifice she made for Randall.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEver since I was little, my parents were very open about the fact that I was adopted and that my biological mother loved me very, very much,\u201d Randall said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FNateEatonReporter%2Fposts%2Fpfbid0xeLLQqLxizH7MVohxTNuXFbAgH4XbNUHgivQ7PpWofFnvFsqckKnYoJPG5QxeDPGl&amp;show_text=true&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"569\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>As an adult, she felt a need to try and find her biological family.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just did this Google search of \u2018In Idaho, how do I find my [biological] parents?\u2019 And coming to find out, it\u2019s actually really difficult to try and find any information in Idaho,\u201d she explained. \u201cI have some medical things that are going on, and I just kind of wanted to know (my) basic medical information. That way I could give my doctors an idea of like, \u2018Oh yeah, this does run in my family.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In July, she found a Facebook group dedicated to helping people reunite with lost family members. She posted the one photo she had of Lindsay, and within 15 minutes, she received a message from Lindsay&#8217;s sister.<\/p>\n<p>After a series of back-and-forth conversations, Randall learned that she had many biological relatives, including her mother and father, who are still together, living just two hours away. She messaged Lindsay and had an instant connection.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ: <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/empowers-women-deceptively-market-abortion-period-pills\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>If abortion empowers women, why deceptively market abortion pills as \u2018period pills\u2019?<\/em><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey had both been looking for me\u2026 come to find out they\u2019d been looking for me since I had turned 18,\u201d Randall said. \u201cI video called her, and I was trying to be all cute and do the whole, \u2018Hi, Mom, I\u2019m your daughter!\u2019 like you see in the movies and stuff, but I was only able to get out, \u2018Hi!\u2019 and I lost it. I broke down crying.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Randall drove two hours to meet her biological family, where they greeted her with open arms.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI get out of my car, and [Lindsay] comes running up and gives me the biggest hug in the world,\u201d Randall said. \u201cI held on, and I hugged her back, and I felt at peace. I felt this huge weight lift off my shoulders that I didn\u2019t even know was there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Her dad was there, too.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI turned around and there was my dad just standing there, and I gave him a hug. He did not want to let me go at all,\u201d Randall said. \u201cAs he was hugging me, I went, \u2018Huh, this hug feels very familiar.\u2019 And my daughter, she\u2019s 3, and she hugs the exact same way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Randall was also touched to learn that although they had placed her for adoption, her biological parents never forgot about her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey told me that every single year on my birthday, they\u2019ve done like a little thing, and that they have 24 birthday cards for me,\u201d Randall said. \u201cThey\u2019ve never forgotten my birthday.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>The Bottom Line:<\/h2>\n<p>Randall&#8217;s experience is an important reminder that adoption (especially <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/hardest-healing-purpose-choosing-life-open-adoption\/\">open adoption<\/a>) can be a positive alternative when a young mother feels unable to parent her baby.
