She explained that when she shared the news of her pregnancy with her business associates, she got crushing pushback.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;So when I got pregnant, I was an independent artist. I was working with this company called Platoon, working out of the UK. And when you&#8217;re an artist, though you&#8217;re a human, you&#8217;re technically the business,&#8221; Mon\u00e9t said on the podcast. &#8220;So, to have to explain to someone who is a partner in your business that your business may slow down because of pregnancy, is difficult, but it&#8217;s also something that you&#8217;re supposed to feel celebratory about.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Shockingly, one associate went so far as to create a PowerPoint presentation for Mon\u00e9t detailing all the reasons (including the cost of childcare) the associate felt Mon\u00e9t <i>should abort her daughter<\/i>. Mon\u00e9t explained:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>In retrospect, it was really, really disheartening. I had a person on my team, though the intentions were good, really, really hurt my feelings because they made a PowerPoint presentation to me about how difficult it will be for me. <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>And the finale of the presentation was, &#8216;what&#8217;s the rush?&#8217; So, it felt like an encouragement to get an abortion. <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>So that was really, really hurtful.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Despite feeling discouraged by the encounter, she left the meeting more determined than ever to raise her daughter.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And I walked out of that meeting\u2026 with that same fight that I had when I left home. I\u2019m going to do this. It\u2019s my body, and I\u2019m going to make it work even if it\u2019s hard,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<h2>Commentary:<\/h2>\n<p>On the campaign trail promoting Kamala Harris last year, Michelle Obama gave a speech claiming that both women&#8217;s and men&#8217;s lives and futures will be ruined without access to abortion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe devastating consequences of teen pregnancy won\u2019t just be borne by young girls, but also by the young men who are the fathers,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/michelle-obama-without-abortion-men-college-women-die\/\">Obama told the crowd<\/a>. &#8220;They too will have their dreams of going to college; their entire future is totally upended by an unwanted pregnancy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This sort of remark sounds similar to the arguments made by Mon\u00e9t&#8217;s colleague \u2014 &#8216;what&#8217;s the rush?&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>The problem with such sentiments is that&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>behavioral and life choices in alignment with one&#8217;s &#8220;entire future&#8221; should ideally be made <em>before<\/em> conceiving a child.<\/li>\n<li><em>even if<\/em> a child is conceived in less than ideal circumstances, this doesn&#8217;t mean that someone&#8217;s &#8220;entire future&#8221; must be &#8220;totally upended.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Many parents have found that giving birth to their <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/triplets-help-pregnancy-resource-center-thanking-god\/\">children<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/conceived-rape-blessing-abortion\/\">imperfect<\/a> circumstances <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/unplanned-pregnancy-14-saved-angelinas-life\/\">changed them<\/a> \u2014 and their lives and futures \u2014 for the better. Like Mon\u00e9t did.<\/p>\n<p>Many mothers like Mon\u00e9t are fed the false lie that pursuing a career is impossible once a child is born. Actress Jamie Lynn Spears says she felt &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/jamie-lynn-spears-pressure-kill-baby-relentless\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">relentless<\/a>&#8221; pressure to abort her daughter, as did <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/sinead-oconnor-pressured-abort\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">singer<\/a> Sinead O&#8217;Connor.<\/p>\n<p>While we may not get the future we&#8217;ve had planned out for ourselves, it&#8217;s a terrible thing to choose to end another human being&#8217;s life because we feel that person is standing in the way of our imagined &#8220;future.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>The Bottom Line:<\/h2>\n<p>Mon\u00e9t went on to prove the pro-abortion lies false. In fact, she won Grammy awards in 2024 \u2014 just three years after giving birth to daughter Hazel in 2021.
