This is equivalent to nearly one-third the number of total births for the year \u2014 a significant percentage, as populations are falling below the replacement rate.<\/p>\n<h2>The Bottom Line:<\/h2>\n<p>Leaders and policymakers around the world have started to take notice of the fact that birth rates are well below where they should be, with some <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/china-initiatives-birth-rate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">implementing<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/hungary-tax-exemptions-mothers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">measures<\/a> in an attempt to persuade women to have more children.
