Its national office does not reveal numbers on these services, instead grouping them into an &#8216;other services&#8217; category in its annual report. In 2019, that category included 17,791 cases. It rose to 77,858 in 2023. <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>With trans-identified minors, Planned Parenthood follows an &#8216;informed consent&#8217; model, which, according to its patient guidelines, enables patients to get a same-day prescription for cross-sex hormones after a 30-minute in-person or remote consultation with a staff member. Many openly discuss how they use the adult informed-consent model of care with their teen patients, which almost always means no mental health involvement and sometimes no parent input, either. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Planned Parenthood <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/planned-parenthood-great-northwest-hawaii-alaska-indiana-kentuck\/patients\/health-care-services\/hrt-hormone-therapy-for-trans-and-non-binary-patients\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">claims<\/a> it uses &#8220;an informed consent model of care&#8221; in which &#8220;providers and patients discuss the risks and benefits of care and work together to create the best care plan.&#8221; But whether or not risks are even discussed is questionable, as Planned Parenthood <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-transgender-surgery-without-meeting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">clients<\/a> have claimed that the organization does little to no counseling before prescribing cross-sex hormones or referring clients for permanent, body-altering surgery.<\/p>\n<p>Planned Parenthood <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/planned-parenthood-north-central-states\/campaigns\/transgender-hormone-therapy\">does not<\/a> \u201crequire a note from a mental health therapist [for a client] to receive hormone therapy. We believe when our patients are fully informed, they can make the best decision for themselves and their bodies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That &#8220;plan&#8221; then frequently results in same-day cross-sex hormone drugs without any mental assessments.<\/p>\n<p>This &#8220;informed consent&#8221; model essentially means that when a Planned Parenthood client (adult or minor) &#8220;informs&#8221; Planned Parenthood they want cross-sex hormones, Planned Parenthood prescribes it with few questions asked \u2014 according to its own clients.<\/p>\n<p>Online, over and over, Planned Parenthood claims that &#8220;Patients do not need a mental health referral to receive hormone care.&#8221; It also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/planned-parenthood-mar-monte\/patient-resources\/gender-affirming-care\/hormone-therapy-first-visit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">advises<\/a> clients, &#8220;In most cases your clinician will be able to prescribe hormones the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/planned-parenthood-great-northwest-hawaii-alaska-indiana-kentuck\/patients\/health-care-services\/hrt-hormone-therapy-for-trans-and-non-binary-patients\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">same day<\/a> as your first visit. As stated, Planned Parenthood openly admits this is how its \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/hhs-report-planned-parenthood-leading-provider-hormones\/\">informed consent<\/a>\u201d model operates.<\/p>\n<p>Former Planned Parenthood client <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/detransitioner-testifies-planned-parenthood-testosterone-16\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Elle Palmer<\/a> testified that at the age of 16, Planned Parenthood gave her testosterone despite her history of mental health struggles.<\/p>\n<p>Detransitioner\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/defund-planned-parenthood-30-minute-call-hormones\/\">Cat Cattinson<\/a> was prescribed a double dosage of testosterone over the phone after a 30-minute call, and others such as <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/30-minutes-planned-parenthood-changed-forever-suing\/\">Cristina Hineman<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/defund-planned-parenthood-teen-serious-danger-hormones\/\">Helena Kerschner<\/a> both obtained prescriptions for testosterone at age 18 from Planned Parenthood clinics after brief initial consultations with the staff.<\/p>\n<p>Ryan claimed she received no counseling before she obtained a cross-sex hormone prescription from Planned Parenthood to \u201ctransition\u201d from female to male, as Live Action News\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-transgender-surgery-without-meeting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">previously<\/a> detailed. She told Dr. Phil that Planned Parenthood also referred her for so-called \u2018top surgery\u2019 \u2014 meaning one in which her healthy female breasts would be surgically removed. According to a report\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/new-documentary-detransition-diaries-exposes-the-lies-of-gender-ideology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">published<\/a>\u00a0by the Post-Millennial, \u201cPlanned Parenthood also gave her a letter to facilitate surgical breast removal, known in the gender identity movement as \u2018top surgery,\u2019 after only a 45-minute phone call.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Why It Matters:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Planned Parenthood <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/report-details-planned-parenthood-record-abortions-funding\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">receives millions in taxpayer dollars<\/a> through Medicaid and other sources. But using taxpayer dollars to fund substandard &#8220;care&#8221; is an improper use of those funds \u2014 which is why some argue that Planned Parenthood and others should be <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-industry-on-notice-failing-standard-care\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">put on notice<\/a> that it could become the target of lawsuits for doing real harm.<\/p>\n<p>What this means is that government or private insurers to Planned Parenthood and others could be contacted and informed that those businesses may be providing services in a way that could endanger clients&#8217; mental, emotional, or physical health in order to increase profits or cut costs.<\/p>\n<p>Planned Parenthood sells cross-sex hormones to confused young people who believe those substances will lead the way to their fulfillment, putting them at risk for mental and physical health issues. The corporation advertises this service mainly on the internet, and as previously <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/word-street-teens-planned-parenthood-hormone-access\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">explained<\/a> by Live Action News, Planned Parenthood\u2019s websites, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@ppsenfl\/video\/7241671050784804142\">social media pages<\/a>, and \u201csex-ed\u201d videos are filled with disturbing and misleading gender ideology, grooming children to be promiscuous and to reject biological sex, love, and commitment.<\/p>\n<p>Through its content, Planned Parenthood even\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-normalize-changing-gender-day\/\">normalizes<\/a> the idea of people being \u201cmultigender\u201d and changing gender anytime they \u2018feel\u2019 like it.<\/p>\n<p>Planned Parenthood has been willing to <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/transgender-identifying-individuals-planned-parenthood-cash-cows\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">refer minors<\/a>\u00a0for life-altering drugs and may even have plans to expand its targeting of teens. Some branches, however, \u201coffer hormones starting at age 16 with parental approval.\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>In recent years, Planned Parenthood clinics have adopted an expedited access policy on an \u201cinformed consent\u201d basis.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Live Action&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/undercover-investigation-hormones-planned-parenthood-easy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">undercover investigation<\/a> revealed how easy it is for minors to obtain cross-sex hormones from Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood, which is heavily involved in creating content for public school sex-ed, openly <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-promotes-benefits-transgender-ideology\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">promotes<\/a> the use of puberty blockers for minor children.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/GfoZCtbvdhM?si=klFuavZea3pR4cPx\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The investigation found that staff at seven of the 33 facilities contacted confirmed they would prescribe cross-sex hormones at the <em>first appointment<\/em>, even\u00a0<em>virtually, as <\/em>Live Action News <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/undercover-investigation-hormones-planned-parenthood-easy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">previously<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>In most instances, Planned Parenthood assured the caller that on the same day (or at the latest, the following day) of her first appointment, she would be able to receive the cross-sex hormones from her pharmacy.<\/p>\n<h2>The Bottom Line:<\/h2>\n<p>When even the foremost &#8220;experts&#8221; in an experimental pseudoscience such as &#8220;transgender care&#8221; begin to think you&#8217;ve jumped the shark, it&#8217;s time to stop and take a good, hard look at what you&#8217;re doing. If Planned Parenthood continues down this path, it will prove that the actual health of individuals matters far less to them than the dollars they add to the corporation&#8217;s bottom line.<\/p>\n<p
