It lays the groundwork for global medical surveillance of every human being.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Emphasis on <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20241219111805\/https:\/\/washingtonstand.com\/commentary\/explainer-whos-pandemic-agreement-threatens-national-sovereignty-free-speech-and-life\">ideology<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong> over effectiveness.<\/strong> The joint State Department\/HHS <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.state.gov\/releases\/office-of-the-spokesperson\/2025\/07\/joint-statement-by-secretary-of-state-marco-rubio-and-secretary-of-health-and-human-services-robert-f-kennedy-on-the-united-states-rejection-of-2024-amendments-to-the-international-health-re\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">statement<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> issued July 18 notes: \u201cTerminology throughout the 2024 amendments is vague and broad, risking WHO-coordinated international responses that focus on political issues like solidarity, rather than rapid and effective actions.\u201d <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Similarly, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/c-fam.org\/friday_fax\/latest-draft-of-who-pandemic-treaty-revealed\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">C-Fam<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has objected to the documents\u2019 emphasis on \u201cequity,\u201d which \u201cis inherently ambiguous and is expected to give the international health agency and western donors wide latitude for mischief, <strong>including promoting abortion<\/strong> and gender ideology\u201d (emphasis added).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For pro-lifers, the <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/who-pandemic-threaten-pro-life-protections\/\">most alarming<\/a> aspect of the Pandemic Agreement and IHR amendments is the threat they pose to innocent life. Although the word \u201cabortion\u201d never appears in the documents, they do contain <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/c-fam.org\/friday_fax\/latest-draft-of-who-pandemic-treaty-revealed\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">language<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that could <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20241219111805\/https:\/\/washingtonstand.com\/commentary\/explainer-whos-pandemic-agreement-threatens-national-sovereignty-free-speech-and-life\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">jeopardize<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> national and local pro-life legal protections. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Specifically, they require participating nations to provide access to \u201croutine and essential health care services\u201d \u2014 which, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/iris.who.int\/bitstream\/handle\/10665\/349316\/9789240039483-eng.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">according<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to the WHO, includes abortion. <\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>The hidden threat of WHO&#8217;s language<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>The WHO is openly and explicitly pro-abortion.<\/strong> It <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/health-topics\/abortion#tab=tab_1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">asserts<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that abortion is a human right that is fundamental to \u201cgender equality.\u201d It has a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/world-health-organization-abortion-essential-coronavirus\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">track record<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of promoting abortion during international health emergencies, declaring it to be \u201cessential.\u201d To make this \u2018essential service\u2019 more readily available, it has <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/world-health-organization-telemedicine-diy-abortions-countries\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">encouraged<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the expansion of telemedicine-based DIY abortion and has <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/c-fam.org\/friday_fax\/the-who-abortion-agenda-another-reason-to-defund-it\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">recommended<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> lowering safety standards to maximize access.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>The WHO has also <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/world-health-organization-abortion\/\">advocated<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong> limiting individual healthcare workers\u2019 rights to conscientiously object to participating in abortion.<\/strong> In the case of healthcare institutions, it has prescribed the total elimination of conscience objections \u2014 which would mean that even faith-based healthcare agencies would be forced to commit abortions.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>The WHO wants an end to abortion regulations.<\/strong> It has <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/health-topics\/abortion#tab=tab_3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">stated<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that \u201claws and policies that cause barriers to quality abortion care (including criminalization of abortion, mandatory waiting periods and third-party authorization requirements)\u201d should be \u201cremoved.\u201d<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><b><\/b><b><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Reality Check:<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A future presidential administration could easily reverse course with regard to WHO membership and everything that goes with it;
