Shannon is facing the following charges: endangering the welfare of children, the corruption of minors, and criminal conspiracy to conceal the death of a child.<\/p>\n<p>Sydney is facing charges in juvenile court, as she was still a minor when the incident occurred. She is charged with concealing the death of a child and abuse of corpse.<\/p>\n<p>Officials were unable to determine whether the baby had been born alive; if they had been able to conclude that he had been, the <a href=\"https:\/\/lancaster.crimewatchpa.com\/da\/11617\/post\/east-donegal-township-mother-and-daughter-charged-concealing-death-newborn-child-abusing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">press release<\/a> from Adams stated that the pair could have faced homicide charges as well.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to be abundantly clear that these defendants are not being charged with performing an abortion \u2013 as the law prevents us from doing \u2013 but for their actions after the abortion,\u201d Adams said. \u201cAdditionally, one of the defendants is being charged with endangering the other, a juvenile, before the abortion by purchasing abortion medication for the juvenile\u2019s use against recommended instructions which placed her in grave danger.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Neighbors are <a href=\"https:\/\/local21news.com\/news\/local\/mother-teenage-daughter-charged-for-concealing-newborns-death-after-at-home-abortion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">supporting the charges<\/a>, saying it&#8217;s an appropriate way to handle the horrific situation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re appropriate, yeah. I wish it would be more. As a Christian, I feel that an unborn baby was murdered,\u201d Lucretia Breneman told WHP. &#8220;[I]t&#8217;s kind of barbaric to me to treat an unborn baby that way.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Another neighbor, Miranda Vargas, said, &#8220;She was scared. She was underage, but mom should&#8217;ve known better.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>THE BACKSTORY:<\/h3>\n<p>The baby, ultimately determined to be a boy, was <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/teenager-under-investigation-at-home-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">born in 2024<\/a>. Sydney was 20 weeks pregnant, and after allegedly being turned away from a local abortion facility, Shannon ordered abortion pills for her daughter.<\/p>\n<p>There was at least one witness, who communicated with police about what happened.
