Marjorie Taylor Greene is opening an investigation into Planned Parenthood concerning whether the abortion giant is using federal funds for &#8220;unpermitted purposes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>KEY TAKEAWAYS:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The DOGE subcommittee sent a letter to Planned Parenthood seeking information to find out if the corporation is misusing federal funding.<\/li>\n<li>Planned Parenthood&#8217;s legitimate health care and patient numbers have declined, as abortions have increased.<\/li>\n<li>Planned Parenthood has also become one of the nation&#8217;s top providers of &#8220;gender-affirming care&#8221; to minors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>THE DETAILS:<\/h3>\n<p>Subcommittee on Delivering on Government Efficiency (DOGE) Chairwoman Marjorie Taylor Greene <a href=\"https:\/\/oversight.house.gov\/release\/doge-subcommittee-chairwoman-greene-investigates-planned-parenthoods-misuse-of-federal-funds\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a> on June 13 that the subcommittee is launching an investigation into Planned Parenthood&#8217;s potential misuse of federal funds to pay for abortion and cross-sex hormones for minors.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/oversight.house.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Planned-Parenthood-Letter.pdf\">letter<\/a> to Planned Parenthood president and CEO Alexis McGill Johnson, Greene requested information on the abortion corporation&#8217;s financial statements, federal funding, and documents related to its abortion procedures and cross-sex hormone prescriptions for minors.<\/p>\n<p>In the letter to McGill Johnson, the subcommittee wrote:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>As a recipient of nearly $800 million in federal funds in fiscal year (FY) 2023 and the second largest provider of gender hormone therapies in the United States, the Subcommittee is concerned that Planned Parenthood may be commingling federal funds and using them for unpermitted purposes. <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>It is imperative that federal funds provided to Planned Parenthood via Title X of the Public Health Service Act (Title X), Medicaid, and the Children\u2019s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) are administered in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>Therefore, the Subcommittee seeks documents and information from Planned Parenthood about its delivery of these services and stewardship of taxpayer funds.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The press release quotes Greene as saying, &#8220;Planned Parenthood is an abortion giant that harvests organs from babies and uses nearly all of its resources to kill babies, not provide real healthcare. Despite receiving billions in taxpayer dollars, they offer almost no prenatal care, push late-term abortions, and even supply aborted babies for grotesque experiments&#8230;. [I]t\u2019s time Congress holds them accountable and stops the flow of federal funds to this evil and barbaric organization.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A Live Action press release applauded &#8220;<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene and the DOGE subcommittee for which she chairs for <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">investigating Planned Parenthood<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, questioning whether the nonprofit is misusing federal funds for unpermitted purposes, such as abortions and gender-affirming care, in violation of the Hyde Amendment.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>THE BACKSTORY:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Planned Parenthood has long marketed itself as a crucial nationwide health care provider, but its annual report reveals otherwise. It has been <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/defund-planned-parenthood-killing-thousand-daily\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">experiencing<\/a> a decline in legitimate health care services and patient numbers while boasting increases in abortion numbers \u2014 killing over 1,000 preborn babies daily in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.acog.org\/womens-health\/faqs\/induced-abortion\">Induced abortions<\/a>\u00a0are defined as acts that\u00a0<strong><em>directly and intentionally cause<\/em><\/strong> the death of a preborn child. Planned Parenthood\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/uploads\/filer_public\/ce\/f6\/cef6efdb-919a-4211-bb5c-ce0d61fda7f5\/2024-ppfa-annualreport-c3-digital.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">annual report<\/a> shows that it committed a record-setting 392,715 abortions in 2023. When dividing that total (392,715) by 365 days in a year, it works out to <strong><em>1,076 abortions per day<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In recent years, the abortion corporation has added &#8220;gender-affirming care&#8221; to its list of services, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/defund-planned-parenthood-documentary-sell-self-destruction\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">selling<\/a> people on the false idea that they can change their biological sex and selling them cross-sex hormones that have caused numerous <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/defund-planned-parenthood-teen-serious-danger-hormones\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">health issues<\/a>, even among minors.
