Wade<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in 2022 and outlaws abortion except in cases when the mother\u2019s life or serious injury is at risk.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Poe was seven weeks pregnant when she sought to abort her child, but because of Kentucky\u2019s pro-life protections, she could not undergo an abortion in the state. She sought legal assistance, claiming abortion is her reproductive right.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI feel overwhelmed and frustrated that I cannot access abortion care here in my own state, and I have started the difficult process of arranging to get care in another state where it\u2019s legal,\u201d Poe <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aclu.org\/press-releases\/kentucky-woman-files-class-action-lawsuit-against-two-abortion-bans-2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">said<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> when she filed suit. \u201cThis is my personal decision, a decision I believe should be mine alone, not one made by anyone else.
