{"id":332234,"date":"2025-06-02T17:37:01","date_gmt":"2025-06-02T22:37:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/?p=332234"},"modified":"2025-06-02T14:04:18","modified_gmt":"2025-06-02T19:04:18","slug":"pennsylvania-pro-life-ag-pregnancy-center","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/pennsylvania-pro-life-ag-pregnancy-center\/","title":{"rendered":"Pennsylvania&#8217;s new attorney general shuts down anti-pregnancy center website"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>(<a href=\"https:\/\/pregnancyhelpnews.com\/pennsylvania-ag-removes-website-soliciting-complaints-about-pregnancy-help\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pregnancy Help News<\/a>) A victory for pregnancy centers in Pennsylvania has produced hope for pregnancy care workers in the Keystone State.<\/p>\n<p>The commonwealth\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pregnancyhelpnews.com\/unconscionable-pennsylvania-ag-misrepresents-pregnancy-centers-seeks-to-prompt-complaints\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">former attorney general<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pregnancyhelpnews.com\/ariz-ag-abusing-her-statutory-authority-in-assailing-pregnancy-help\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Michelle Henry<\/a>\u00a0had created a page titled, \u201cReport Reproductive Health Deceptive Activity,\u201d in 2023 on the AG website for clients of pregnancy centers\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pregnancyhelpnews.com\/unconscionable-pennsylvania-ag-misrepresents-pregnancy-centers-seeks-to-prompt-complaints\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">to report complaints<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Local pregnancy help advocates recently discovered that the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.attorneygeneral.gov\/report-reproductive-health-deceptive-activity\/\">website<\/a><em>\u00a0<\/em>has been removed.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pregnancyhelpnews.com\/pa-pregnancy-wellness-collaborative-unites-in-defense-of-pregnancy-help\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pennsylvania Pregnancy Wellness Collaborative<\/a>\u00a0(PPWC) sent two of its members to the new attorney general\u2019s office April 15 with a mission. David Sunday, openly pro-life, was elected in November as the new AG.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pregnancyhelpnews.com\/pennsylvania-coalition-forms-to-protect-pregnancy-help-from-government-pushback\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PPWC<\/a>, as defined in its 2024 opening press conference by the organization\u2019s President Sarah Bowen is an, \u201cinitiative unifying pregnancy medical clinics and resource centers that provide compassionate and essential care for women and families in Pennsylvania.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 2023, Democrat Henry publicly and falsely stated the website was necessary because most\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pregnancyhelpnews.com\/pregnancy-help-groups-not-giving-up-after-pro-abortion-administration-pulls-funding\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pregnancy centers<\/a>\u00a0were not licensed and therefore not providing adequate medical care.<\/p>\n<p>PPWC members Jill Hartman, executive director of A Woman\u2019s Concern in Lancaster, and Jon Merwarth, executive director of Bright Hope Support Centers in Allentown, sat down with the attorney general\u2019s council. Sunday was unable to attend the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe they really wanted to hear what we had to say,\u201d Hartman said.<\/p>\n<p>Hartman and Merwarth came before the council with statistics refuting the data presented by the previous attorney general office.<\/p>\n<p>Hartman said Henry\u2019s move to depreciate Pennsylvania centers stemmed from the 2022\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenslawproject.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Alliance_CPC_Report_FINAL2-1-22.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a>\u00a0by \u201cprogressive\u201d collaborative The Alliance titled, \u201cDesigned to Deceive: A Study of Crisis Pregnancy Centers in Nine States.\u201d Among those nine states placed under scrutiny was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pregnancyhelpnews.com\/pennsylvania-sees-highest-number-of-abortions-in-a-decade-with-complications-tripling-in-the-last-five-years\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pennsylvania<\/a>, along with Alaska, California, Idaho, Minnesota, Montana, New Mexico, Oregon and Washington.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat report is what drove much of the false info,\u201d Hartman said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ: <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/uk-couple-down-syndrome-marriage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UK couple won\u2019t let Down syndrome stand in the way of marriage<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the report, researchers incorrectly declared Pennsylvania clinics committed false advertising by using the terms \u201cchoice\u201d and \u201coptions\u201d in their websites.<\/p>\n<p>The PPWC members addressed these claims with the AG office during the April 15 visit.<\/p>\n<p>Hartman presented the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pregnancyhelpnews.com\/pro-abortion-pa-governor-endeavors-to-replicate-pregnancy-help-with-state-tax-dollars\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PPWC study<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.papregnancy.com\/pregnancy-wellness\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cOptimizing Maternal Health in Pennsylvania\u201d<\/a>\u00a0in the visit, highlighting the positive impact of pregnancy help centers.<\/p>\n<p>She shared this document which she drafted in response to Pennsylvania Governor\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pregnancyhelpnews.com\/gov-shapiro-s-defunding-pregnancy-help-centers-sacrifices-women-s-safety-center-director\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Josh Shapiro\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pregnancyhelpnews.com\/pro-abortion-pa-governor-endeavors-to-replicate-pregnancy-help-with-state-tax-dollars\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">efforts to start a state-funded pilot pregnancy center<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are 87 centers in 161 locations throughout the commonwealth,\u201d Hartman noted in the document. \u201cThese centers represent 78 percent of the 67 counties in Pennsylvania with focus on areas with the greatest need.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe represent 85 percent of the counties in Pennsylvania,\u201d she said in an interview with\u00a0<em>Pregnancy Help News<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The site on the attorney general\u2019s page \u201cwas set up to convince people to be against us,\u201d Hartman said, adding she is not aware of any complaints registered or investigated from the site\u2019s inception.<\/p>\n<p>She added that PPWC and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pregnancyhelpnews.com\/not-a-pilot-program-pennsylvania-clinic-expands-amid-states-endeavor-to-mimic-pregnancy-help-efforts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pregnancy centers<\/a>\u00a0in Pennsylvania want what is best for clients as they look for support, saying, \u201cWe are wanting data to drive decisions rather than false narratives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hartman said the collaborative is aware there will be folks in the Commonwealth who will choose not to see pregnancy centers as a resource.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s fine if you do not agree with us,\u201d she said. \u201cWhat\u2019s not fine is that you lie about us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nearly four weeks after the visit with the new AG, a PPWC member went online to review the attorney general website and discovered instead the words, \u201cOops!
