In February 2025, after spending 471 days in the NICU, Levi went home for the first time with his parents. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The hospital <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/GolisanoChildrensHospital\/videos\/an-emotional-moment-today-on-the-6th-floor-as-levi-davids-who-had-spent-471-days\/9317117661734169\/\">posted<\/a> an emotional video to Facebook when Levi graduated from the NICU, showing Levi\u2019s parents pushing him in a stroller as nurses cheered and blew bubbles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?height=476&amp;href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FGolisanoChildrensHospital%2Fvideos%2F9317117661734169%2F&amp;show_text=false&amp;width=267&amp;t=0\" width=\"267\" height=\"476\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;[Levi] went through the struggles of the NICU \u2014 every struggle that could be thrown at him,&#8221; said Dr. Colby Day, medical director of Golisano Children\u2019s Hospital NICU.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Levi\u2019s first struggle involved a blood clot. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Early on, I think the biggest scare was that blood clot, which was in the first few weeks. And so he was put on blood thinners, things like that,\u201d Levi\u2019s father Jonathan Morris told <a href=\"https:\/\/13wham.com\/features\/golisano-childrens-hospital-celebration-of-miracles\/miracle-kids-levi-morris-golisano-childrens-hospital-university-of-rochester-ur-medicine-urmc-premature-preemie-nicu#\">WHAM-TV<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Levi\u2019s lungs were undeveloped, making his fight for life difficult. He went into cardiac arrest and needed CPR for 16 minutes after the medical staff caring for him tried to partially remove his breathing tube and wean him off some medication. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Levi underwent a tracheostomy procedure, but his healing was a series of progress and setbacks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Levi\u2019s case was so \u2014 even after his tracheostomy \u2014 was so up and down. Two months doing really good, a month so terrible you thought he was going to die, and then back up again, and so you&#8217;re always on edge, like day by day,\u201d said Levi&#8217;s mother, Carrie Davids.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another major setback occurred when Levi became partially paralyzed shortly before his first birthday.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What made all the difference for Levi\u2019s parents was the hospital staff and volunteers who supported them through their long NICU journey. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cKnowing that there are people there that we trust that are taking care of our child and are able to walk us through that is really significant,\u201d said Davids.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Levi\u2019s parents are also grateful for the support team that held and read to Levi when Morris and Davids couldn\u2019t be at the hospital with their son.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI really liked that too because Levi is definitely a snuggler, and I love that he was getting interaction from all different facets,\u201d Davids said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Levi is growing strong, and his doctor and parents are confident in his progress, planning on working with him day by day and giving him extra help with physical therapy and speech therapy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Levi\u2019s father explained the couple\u2019s plan for the rest of the healing journey. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;We\u2019re just going to take it a day at a time.
