The state of Florida has successfully used the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act to fine an abortion activist $10,000 for vandalizing a pro-life pregnancy center, the Daily Wire reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier sent a letter last week to the state’s chief financial officer, forwarding a $10,000 civil fine \u201creceived by court order from a member of the extremist organizations, Antifa and Jane\u2019s Revenge, who unlawfully threatened employees of a Florida pregnancy resource facility,\u201d notes the Daily Wire.<\/p>\n

A photo<\/a> of the check reveals it was made out by Gabriella Oropesa, who was one of several people responsible for<\/a> 2022 incidents against this pregnancy center and others. Offenders spray-painted threats with messages including, \u201cIf abortions aren\u2019t safe than niether [sic] are you,\u201d \u201cYOUR TIME IS UP!!,\u201d \u201cWE\u2019RE COMING for U,\u201d and \u201cWe are everywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n

In December, she was convicted<\/a> on federal charges for violating the FACE Act and is awaiting federal sentencing, which is scheduled to happen later this month.<\/p>\n

Following the Supreme Court’s overturn of Roe v. Wade<\/em>, pro-life organizations and pregnancy centers around the country were subject to attacks and acts of vandalism, however, few of the perpetrators involved in the attacks were ever arrested or convicted. The Florida vandals, including Oropesa, were among only a handful who faced federal FACE Act charges for their crimes.<\/p>\n

Under the previous Florida Attorney General, Ashley Moody, the state took the unique action of filing a lawsuit<\/a> against members of Antifa and Jane’s Revenge, the pro-abortion groups responsible for the attacks. In the lawsuit, Moody used the FACE Act to defend the pregnancy centers. A settlement in the case<\/a> was reached in January, at which time Oropesa, one of the defendants, was ordered to pay Florida the $10,000.<\/p>\n

“The FACE Act is almost exclusively used by the left to imprison and silence pro-life protestors, but in Florida, we used the Act to protect Pregnancy Resource Centers against leftist extremist groups Jane\u2019s Revenge and Antifa,” Uthmeier said in a March 12th X post. “This morning, I transmitted a $10,000 civil fine we collected from one of the convicted Antifa extremists to CFO <\/span>@JimmyPatronis<\/a><\/span>. As the State\u2019s chief legal officer, I will ensure that pro-abortion bullies who violate the law are held accountable.”<\/span><\/p>\n
