Actual abortion \u2014 whether conducted through means of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/3-women-abortion-pill-horro\/\">abortion pill<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/what-really-happens-during-a-dc-abortion\/\">surgical procedures<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 is the on-purpose, consciously chosen, and fully intended violent taking of a child\u2019s life. The distinction between miscarriage and abortion becomes clear when Dr. Anthony Levatino\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.abortionprocedures.com\/?__hstc=61024563.39a91b711af9bfe3a7bb31a697c37769.1732753468913.1741273559175.1741283428991.294&amp;__hssc=61024563.78.1741283428991&amp;__hsfp=1595463786\">videos describing abortion procedures<\/a> are viewed,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/miscarriage-ectopic-delivery-not-abortions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">explained<\/a> Live Action News contributor Kristi Burton Brown.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/zVk1qM1El9o?si=z1-9PX-JSAEfmt-g\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-pill-21-years-secrecy-death\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">approved<\/a> the <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-pill-pro-life-coalition-petition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">abortion pill<\/a> regimen (mifepristone 200mg \u2014 which starves the preborn child of nutrients \u2014 in 2000, along with misoprostol, a second drug which causes contractions to expel the baby). It was later <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-pill-dangerous-safety-requirement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">placed<\/a> under an FDA safety system known as REMS, after multiple deaths prompted closer scrutiny of the drug. The REMS limits who can prescribe or dispense mifepristone 200mg; not all medical professionals have access to the abortion pill.<\/p>\n<p>Do calls to remove or limit use of the abortion pill regimen negatively impact miscarriage care, as the media is attempting to claim?<\/p>\n<p><strong>ACOG promotes abortion pill regimen for miscarriage\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), which <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/american-college-obstetricians-gynecologists-partners-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">heavily promotes abortion<\/a>\u00a0and typically <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/top-myths-debunked-american-college-obstetricians-gynecologists\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">changes its recommendations<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/acog-rh-testing-guidelines-helping-abortion-industry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">support the talking points<\/a> of the abortion lobby, is openly promoting use of both drugs in the abortion pill regimen for so-called &#8220;early pregnancy loss&#8221; \u2014 otherwise known as miscarriage care.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<i>Early pregnancy loss<\/i> is defined as a nonviable, intrauterine pregnancy with either an empty gestational sac or a gestational sac containing an embryo or fetus without fetal heart activity within the first 12 6\/7 weeks of gestation,&#8221; ACOG <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acog.org\/clinical\/clinical-guidance\/practice-bulletin\/articles\/2018\/11\/early-pregnancy-loss\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote<\/a> in its Practice Bulletin, Number 200 (replaces Practice Bulletin Number 150, May 2015. Reaffirmed 2025).<\/p>\n<p>Ironically, here the ACOG appears to suggest that a living &#8220;embryo or fetus&#8221; has &#8220;fetal heart activity,&#8221; despite working tirelessly to <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/acog-change-talk-abortion-neutral\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">influence<\/a> the positions of its members regarding abortion. It has regularly <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CaroleNovielli\/status\/1739757776216166479\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">changed<\/a>\u00a0its own long-held messaging and definitions on when life begins (fertilization),\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/pro-abortion-groups-quietly-change-cardiac-definitions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prenatal heartbeat<\/a>, and other developmental markers.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the fact that there is a <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/fact-check-omitting-facts-likening-miscarriage-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stark difference<\/a> between abortion \u2014 which intentionally takes the life of a living preborn baby \u2014 and miscarriage care (the treatment after the preborn baby has naturally died), ACOG claimed, &#8220;In the first trimester, the terms miscarriage, spontaneous abortion, and early pregnancy loss are used interchangeably, and there is no consensus on terminology in the literature. However, early pregnancy loss is the term that will be used in this Practice Bulletin&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Conflating miscarriage management with induced abortion perpetuates stigma, shame, and confusion surrounding pregnancy loss,&#8221; the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists (AAPLOG) recently <a href=\"https:\/\/aaplog.org\/stories\/acog-publishes-incoherent-response-to-aaplogs-maternal-fetal-separation-terminology\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote<\/a>. &#8220;It is not an uncommon occurrence for patients to call their physician after treatment for a miscarriage, distraught because they saw the word &#8216;spontaneous abortion&#8217; on their discharge paperwork \u2013 causing significant distress because they are opposed to induced abortion.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_327392\" style=\"width: 1010px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-327392\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-327392\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/ACOG-early-pregnancy-loss-or-miscarriage-care-with-abortion-pills-700x407.jpg\" alt=\"ACOG early pregnancy loss or miscarriage care with abortion pills\" width=\"1000\" height=\"581\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/ACOG-early-pregnancy-loss-or-miscarriage-care-with-abortion-pills-700x407.jpg 700w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/ACOG-early-pregnancy-loss-or-miscarriage-care-with-abortion-pills-300x174.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/ACOG-early-pregnancy-loss-or-miscarriage-care-with-abortion-pills-768x446.jpg 768w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/ACOG-early-pregnancy-loss-or-miscarriage-care-with-abortion-pills-1536x892.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/ACOG-early-pregnancy-loss-or-miscarriage-care-with-abortion-pills-2048x1190.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/ACOG-early-pregnancy-loss-or-miscarriage-care-with-abortion-pills-500x290.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-327392\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">ACOG early pregnancy loss or miscarriage care with abortion pills<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In 2022, a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/emaaproject.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Citizen-Petition-from-the-American-College-of-Obstetrician-and-Gynecologists-et-al-10.3.22-EMAA-website.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">petition<\/a> from 48 pro-abortion groups asked the FDA to approve the abortion pill (mifepristone) for miscarriage care. In addition, the <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-industry-schemes-expand-fda-pill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">petition<\/a> sought to convince the FDA to remove mifepristone from an important safety system known as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.accessdata.fda.gov\/drugsatfda_docs\/rems\/Mifepristone_2019_04_11_REMS_Document.pdf\">Risk Evaluation and Mitigation System<\/a>\u00a0(REMS).<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/emaaproject.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Citizen-Petition-from-the-American-College-of-Obstetrician-and-Gynecologists-et-al-10.3.22-EMAA-website.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">letter<\/a> was\u00a0signed by the pro-abortion\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/exposing-acog-population-control-influenced-organization\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ACOG<\/a>, the American Humanist Association, American Medical Association (AMA), Expanding Medication Abortion Access (EMAA) Project, NARAL Pro-Choice America, the National Abortion Federation (NAF), Physicians for Reproductive Health (PRH), Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), and UCSF Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health, and others likely to benefit financially from the move.<\/p>\n<p>Then, in the fall of 2024, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/health\/healthcare\/abortion-pill-maker-is-seeking-to-expand-its-use-to-miscarriage-9d746402\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> that <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/danco-spokesperson-secret-manufactures-abortion-pills\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">abortion pill manufacturer<\/a> Danco Laboratories was &#8220;preparing scientific data and taking other steps to ask the Food and Drug Administration to approve use of the abortion pill regimen Mifeprex <strong>for management of miscarriages<\/strong>, according to people familiar with the matter&#8221; (emphasis added).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It couldn\u2019t be determined when Danco will formally submit its application, though an FDA decision will likely take months,&#8221; the WSJ added.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the fact that no approval has been issued yet, ACOG is openly promoting using both drugs in the abortion pill regimen for so-called &#8220;early pregnancy loss&#8221; or miscarriage care. Planned Parenthood is also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/learn\/pregnancy\/miscarriage\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">promoting use of both drugs<\/a> on their website.<\/p>\n<p>In its previously mentioned practice bulletin, ACOG <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acog.org\/clinical\/clinical-guidance\/practice-bulletin\/articles\/2018\/11\/early-pregnancy-loss\">described<\/a> the two-drug regimen for &#8220;early pregnancy loss&#8221; as &#8220;superior,&#8221; despite also claiming that &#8220;initial studies&#8221; were &#8220;unclear about the benefit of mifepristone for the management of early pregnancy loss.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Live Action News reached out to an OBGYN who suggested that there is research to indicate the use of both drugs might have better results. However, it is important to note that as of the writing of this article, there has been <em><strong>no FDA approval of the use of both drugs for miscarriage care<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, we know from abortion industry insiders that getting the abortion pill approved for &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-industry-schemes-expand-fda-pill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">other indications<\/a>&#8221; is essentially a scheme to circumvent <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/federal-law-prohibit-abortion-drugs-mail-enforced\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">laws that restrict<\/a> abortion.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_327396\" style=\"width: 1010px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-327396\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-327396\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/ACOG-early-pregnancy-loss-or-miscarriage-care-with-mifepristone-and-misoprostol-the-abortion-pill-regimen-582x700.jpg\" alt=\"ACOG early pregnancy loss or miscarriage care with mifepristone and misoprostol the abortion pill regimen\" width=\"1000\" height=\"1202\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/ACOG-early-pregnancy-loss-or-miscarriage-care-with-mifepristone-and-misoprostol-the-abortion-pill-regimen-582x700.jpg 582w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/ACOG-early-pregnancy-loss-or-miscarriage-care-with-mifepristone-and-misoprostol-the-abortion-pill-regimen-250x300.jpg 250w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/ACOG-early-pregnancy-loss-or-miscarriage-care-with-mifepristone-and-misoprostol-the-abortion-pill-regimen-768x923.jpg 768w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/ACOG-early-pregnancy-loss-or-miscarriage-care-with-mifepristone-and-misoprostol-the-abortion-pill-regimen-1278x1536.jpg 1278w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/ACOG-early-pregnancy-loss-or-miscarriage-care-with-mifepristone-and-misoprostol-the-abortion-pill-regimen-500x601.jpg 500w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/ACOG-early-pregnancy-loss-or-miscarriage-care-with-mifepristone-and-misoprostol-the-abortion-pill-regimen.jpg 1364w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-327396\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">ACOG early pregnancy loss or miscarriage care with mifepristone and misoprostol the abortion pill regimen<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Oddly enough, while ACOG seems to imply that expelling a &#8220;nonviable&#8221; embryo or fetus in a miscarriage may work best when both drugs in the abortion pill regimen are used, it has also co-signed Big Abortion&#8217;s work-around effort to avoid the safety requirements of the REMS for the abortion pill by suggesting that the use of <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/bad-actors-failure-prone-abortion-drug\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">misoprostol only<\/a> for an induced abortion\u00a0is acceptable.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The majority of [<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/self-managed-abortion-safety-narrative-changes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">self-managed abortions<\/a>] SMAs are completed <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/fact-check-abortion-pill-safer-tylenol-viagra\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">safely<\/a> with misoprostol, either alone or with mifepristone,&#8221; ACOG claimed, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acog.org\/clinical\/clinical-guidance\/practice-bulletin\/articles\/2020\/10\/medication-abortion-up-to-70-days-of-gestation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">adding<\/a>, &#8220;Combined mifepristone\u2013misoprostol regimens are recommended as the preferred therapy for medication abortion because they are significantly more effective than misoprostol-only regimens. If a combined mifepristone\u2013misoprostol regimen is not available, a misoprostol-only regimen is the recommended alternative.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acog.org\/-\/media\/project\/acog\/acogorg\/files\/advocacy\/amicus-briefs\/mifepristone-amicus-brief-21023.pdf?rev=d96f677ff5b6474f8c6684dfa8ff0066&amp;hash=2D52BF682248A692F3FAAE75CD13ABCA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">amicus brief<\/a> filed in the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/fact-check-supreme-court-abortion-pill-access\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine (AHM) v. FDA<\/a><\/em> lawsuit, which went to the Supreme Court, ACOG wrote that &#8220;mifepristone followed by misoprostol is used both to induce abortion, and in the treatment of miscarriage or early pregnancy loss (which can be life threatening).&#8221; However, the brief also footnoted that &#8220;Combined mifepristone\u2013misoprostol regimens are the preferred therapy for medication abortion <strong>because they are more effective than misoprostol-only regimens<\/strong>. (This is an &#8220;off-label&#8221; use of misoprostol.)<\/p>\n<p>Mifepristone may be used in other medications with separate dosages, but it is the 200mg dosage (2023 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.accessdata.fda.gov\/drugsatfda_docs\/label\/2023\/020687Orig1s026lbl.pdf\">label<\/a>) which was <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/fda-abortion-pill-timeline-events\/\">approved<\/a> for use as the abortion pill. Mifepristone (300mg) is known as the drug Korlym, which is <em>not<\/em> the abortion pill (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.accessdata.fda.gov\/drugsatfda_docs\/label\/2019\/202107s008lbl.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.accessdata.fda.gov\/drugsatfda_docs\/label\/2019\/202107s008lbl.pdf&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1741370439519000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0OSSLcFj6WuiBgO3n07qQL\">labe<\/a>l) and is unaffected by any calls to restrict mifepristone. Read more about this <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/mifepristone-miscarriage-cushing-syndrome\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/1YuYvyIGWlM?si=5fS1QaF-W3nON6ip\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The\u00a0REMS on mifepristone (200mg) limits prescribers to <em>only<\/em> those who are approved by the \u201csponsors\u201d of the drugs \u2014 Danco or <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/generic-abortion-pill-genbiopro-nationwide-market\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GenBioPro<\/a>, though the abortion industry wants the REMS removed so it can expand abortion, and sell abortion pills to anyone.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, under the <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/women-die-abortion-pill-fda-generic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">REMS<\/a>, to become certified, prescribers must have the ability to accurately assess the duration of a pregnancy and diagnose an ectopic pregnancy, and the REMS <a href=\"https:\/\/www.accessdata.fda.gov\/drugsatfda_docs\/rems\/Mifepristone_2023_03_23_REMS_Full.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">require<\/a>\u00a0providers to sign the manufacturer\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.accessdata.fda.gov\/drugsatfda_docs\/rems\/Mifepristone_2019_04_11_Prescriber_Agreement_Form_for_Danco_Laboratories_LLC.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prescribers agreement<\/a>. Until recently, prescribers also had to stock the drug, since it was not dispensed in pharmacies, but that requirement <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/fda-retail-pharmacies-abortion-pills-prescription\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">changed in 2023<\/a> when the Biden FDA approved the dispensing of the regimen through retail pharmacies with a prescription.<\/p>\n<p>While the number of prescribers approved by Danco and GenBioPro is unknown, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-industry-no-longer-between-woman-doctor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">past studies<\/a> have shown that a majority of OBGYNs were not certified to prescribe the drug, indicating that the majority of OBGYNs would also be unlikely to prescribe mifepristone for miscarriage care.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Abortion pill risks<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Published percentages for emergency room (ER) visits on mifepristone\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.accessdata.fda.gov\/drugsatfda_docs\/label\/2023\/020687Orig1s026lbl.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2023 label<\/a> state that 2.9 to 4.6% of women who take abortion drugs end up in ER, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/emergency-room-visits-abortion-pill-tens-thouands\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">indicating<\/a> that these visits could be in the <em>tens of thousands<\/em> every year. Gynuity is a pro-abortion group, conducting clinical trials on the abortion pill; it is <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20180616184524\/http:\/\/gynuity.org\/about\/partners\/#donors\">funded<\/a>\u00a0by organizations with deep historic ties to the American\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/expand-access-abortion-pill-tied-eugenics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">eugenics<\/a>\u00a0movement.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cself-managed abortion\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/self-managed-abortion-brainchild-abortion-industry\/\">scheme<\/a>\u00a0was planned and implemented by the abortion industry years before the fall of\u00a0<em>Roe v. Wade<\/em>. Even in the early days of the abortion pill\u2019s approval, the industry acknowledged that ERs would be a <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/media-blame-pro-life-abortion-pill-er\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">necessary link<\/a>\u00a0in the \u201cself-managed\u201d abortion chain, despite the industry\u2019s repeated claims that the drug is \u201csafe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The abortion industry has now\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-pro-life-laws-risk-self-managed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shifted responsibility<\/a> for abortion pill clients from abortion providers to often overcrowded ERs. Today, bad actors inside the industry even tell abortion clients to instead present to ERs when experiencing abortion pill complications, with some even <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/bad-actors-conceal-abortion-pill-complications\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">suggesting that clients lie<\/a> and claim they are experiencing <em>natural miscarriages<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Why does this matter?\u00a0<strong><em>Because it falsifies the true dangers of the abortion pill for women<\/em><\/strong>, instead causing those dangers to be reported as natural pregnancy complications. This then inaccurately skews statistics regarding abortion and pregnancy risks.<\/p>\n<p>To date, the FDA only tracks abortion pill-related deaths that are reported to the manufacturer. Nationally, there is <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-complications-reported-cant-claim-safe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">no requirement<\/a> to report abortion complications to any federal agency. As such, we may never fully know the true risks of this drug regimen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who is ACOG?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ACOG\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.acog.org\/about\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">claims<\/a>\u00a0to be the \u201cpremier professional membership organization for obstetrician-gynecologists,\u201d but it is far from unbiased where abortion is concerned.\u00a0Currently, the group is at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/american-college-obstetricians-gynecologists-will-members\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">forefront<\/a>\u00a0of efforts to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/acog-updates-recommendations-abortion-industry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">expand abortion<\/a> \u2014 in particular, the abortion pill.<\/p>\n<p>ACOG\u2019s shift to abortion advocacy began shortly after its founding, and control of the organization was quickly taken by those\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CaroleNovielli\/status\/1411026477198581767\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">involved<\/a>\u00a0with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthoods-connections-to-eugenics\/\">Planned Parenthood<\/a>\u00a0\u2014\u00a0the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/eugenics-population-council-donors-endemically-racist\/\">endemically racist<\/a>\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/population-council-founded-eugenicists-promoting-abortion-turns-65\/\">Population Council<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/1973-video-former-planned-parenthood-eugenicist-president-responds-roe\/\">American Eugenics Society<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In 1960, ACOG fellow Dr. Alan F. Guttmacher, a board member of Planned Parenthood who took the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-population-control-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">helm<\/a>\u00a0as president in 1962, told media that an ACOG committee had begun a\u00a0<em>fact-finding expedition<\/em>\u00a0to liberalize abortion laws. Then, by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/american-college-obstetricians-gynecologists-will-members\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1968<\/a>, its leadership had\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/1968\/05\/10\/archives\/obstetricians-back-liberal-abortions.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">moved<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/abs\/10.1080\/00185868.1968.9952149\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">approve<\/a>\u00a0the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/legal-abortion-equals-more-proof\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">American Law Institute\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0Model Penal Code to decriminalize\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-president-decriminalize-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">abortion<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>By then, ACOG\u00a0was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/exposing-acog-population-control-influenced-organization\/\">led mostly by men connected<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.history.com\/topics\/european-history\/eugenics\">eugenics<\/a>-based organizations.<\/p>\n<p>The organization\u2019s official support for unrestricted abortion on-demand has become more obvious over time. ACOG now\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.acog.org\/advocacy\/abortion-is-essential\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">refers<\/a> to abortion (which is the intentional killing of a human preborn child) as \u201chealth care,\u201d and a 2023 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/2023\/08\/30\/abortion-debate-honesty-matters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">op-ed<\/a> written by leaders of ACOG and The Society of Family Planning\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/american-college-obgyns-support-killing-preborn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">published<\/a>\u00a0in The Washington Post stated that abortion \u201c<strong>must be available without restrictions, without limitations and without barriers<\/strong>\u201d (emphasis added).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/acog-abortion-population-control-redefined-beginning-life\/\">Read more details here<\/a>\u00a0about how ACOG officials and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-population-control-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dr. Guttmacher<\/a> set out to redefine \u201cconception\u201d and \u201cpregnancy,\u201d and how ACOG officials worked to <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/acog-abortion-population-control-redefined-beginning-life\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">change the definition of the beginning of life<\/a>\u00a0from\u00a0<em>fertilization<\/em>\u00a0to\u00a0<em>implantation<\/em>\u00a0(in the uterus) so that they could redefine<em>\u00a0contraception<\/em>\u00a0for\u00a0<em>population control<\/em>\u00a0purposes.<\/p>\n<p>ACOG has been funded by pro-abortion groups like\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/projects.propublica.org\/nonprofits\/organizations\/30382773\/201801719349301035\/full\">Ibis<\/a>\u00a0Reproductive\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ibisreproductivehealth.org\/sites\/default\/files\/files\/publications\/Ibis%202016%20990.pdf\">Health<\/a>\u00a0(which has been\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20200130190128\/https:\/\/ibisreproductivehealth.org\/funders\">funded<\/a>\u00a0by abortion pill manufacturer Danco Laboratories\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ibisreproductivehealth.org\/funders\">and<\/a> Danco investor, the Packard Foundation;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-industry-financial-conflicts-interest-politicians-media\/\">read<\/a>\u00a0more\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20200130190128\/http:\/\/www.ibisreproductivehealth.org\/funders\">here<\/a>\u00a0about Ibis),\u00a0the Susan Thompson Buffett\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/990s.foundationcenter.org\/990pf_pdf_archive\/476\/476032365\/476032365_201612_990PF.pdf\">Foundation<\/a>, and the (Bill and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gatesfoundation.org\/about\/committed-grants?q=%22American%20College%20of%22\">Melinda<\/a>) Gates <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.gatesfoundation.org\/Documents\/2006AssetTrust990-PF.pdf\">Foundation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In return, ACOG has <a href=\"https:\/\/intranet.bixbycenter.ucsf.edu\/publications\/files\/BixbyCenter_10YearReport_2009.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">funded<\/a>\u00a0the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/paying-millions-abortion-training-taxpayers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health<\/a>, where abortionists are trained, even promoting Bixby\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.acog.org\/education-and-events\/creog\/curriculum-resources\/ryan-family-planning-curriculum\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ryan Residency Programs<\/a>\u00a0on its website. The ACOG Foundation, a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/taggs.hhs.gov\/Detail\/RecipDetail?arg_EntityId=nr1xP0mpfRZGNWrnxXHicA%3D%3D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recipient<\/a>\u00a0of taxpayer dollars which\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.acog.org\/giving\/about\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">claims<\/a>\u00a0to fund \u201cprograms and activities that further the interests of ACOG members,\u201d\u00a0has\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.acog.org\/giving\/grants\/grantees\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">granted<\/a> Planned Parenthood of California Central Coast $20,000. The Foundation was previously <a href=\"https:\/\/philanthropynewsdigest.org\/rfps\/rfp16462-acog-foundation-invites-proposals-to-improve-those-seeking-obstetric-and-gynecologic-care\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">seeking proposals<\/a> for grants to \u201cadvance public education initiatives in a post-Dobbs environment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition, as Live Action News <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/top-myths-debunked-american-college-obstetricians-gynecologists\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">previously<\/a> documented, ACOG supports and partners with the abortion industry; it has issued numerous releases,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.acog.org\/Womens-Health\/Abortion?p=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">training documents<\/a>, practice bulletins, and committee opinions supporting abortion. ACOG has \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/societyfp.org\/fellowship\/fellowship-partners\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">partnered<\/a>\u201d with many\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/follow-money-pro-abortion-group-suicide-risk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">abortion<\/a>\u2013 and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/AnnualReport2005.pdf\">eugenics<\/a>-focused\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PPSATSC\/status\/1765097697122431244\">groups<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Summary<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Use of the abortion pill has been unsafe for 6 million preborn children (and counting) who have died because of it, and as documented by the drug&#8217;s label, it can potentially lead to complications for the pregnant woman.<\/p>\n<p>Live Action News <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/stop-secrecy-fda-truth-abortion-pill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">previously<\/a> documented how the historical \u2018record\u2019 surrounding the approval of the abortion pill has been cloaked in secrecy and hidden from the public for decades with the blessing of the FDA.
