Charges against the man accused in the tragic kidnapping and murder of Glynis Jackson, 31, have now been <\/span>accelerated<\/span><\/a> to include a first-degree murder charge for the <\/span>death of her preborn baby. <\/span><\/p>\n

Joshua Demarshall Andrews, 29, allegedly abducted Jackson, his ex-girlfriend, from the Canton Nissan plant on the morning of January 27, 2025<\/span>. Andrews is believed to have <\/span>pressured<\/span><\/a> Jackson into his car<\/span> and then proceeded to shoot her multiple times while driving down Interstate 55. In a fleeting attempt to escape, Jackson exited the car while it was moving, but was then <\/span>fatally hit<\/span><\/a> by another oncoming car<\/span>. She was later discovered on the side of the road at the 161-mile marker. Andrews turned himself in to Carroll Country Sheriff\u2019s Office and a gun was found at the scene of Jackson\u2019s death.<\/span><\/p>\n

“This is an active investigation,” stated Amanda Plecas, Sr. Manager of Manufacturing and Labor Communications for Nissan. Andrews was charged with capital murder in Jackson’s death and had already been labeled a \u201cfelon in possession of a gun\u201d due to a history of aggravated assault charges. Law & Crime reported that there is a possibility that Andrews <\/span>followed Jackson<\/span><\/a> from Georgia to Mississippi with the intent to kill her<\/span>. He had just been released from prison in September of 2022. It was announced on February 5<\/span> that Jackson was pregnant at the time of her death, which led to an additional charge of first-degree murder.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Jackson was the mother to three other children and was the ex-girlfriend of Andrews. It is <\/span>unclear<\/span><\/a> if Andrews was the father to any of her children<\/span>. Sheriff Randy Tucker stated, \u201cThis is a heinous crime that shocks the conscience of society and Andrews will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

No motives have been made clear at this time in the investigation. Andrews is currently being held at Madison County Detention Center awaiting his trial.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
