As noted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.klfy.com\/louisiana\/louisiana-seeks-extradition-of-new-york-doctor-accused-of-mailing-abortion-pills-across-state-lines\/\">KLFY.com<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>Attorney General Liz Murrill announced Wednesday that she had signed off on Carpenter\u2019s extradition request. Gov. Jeff Landry said he gave final approval Wednesday.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>\u201cWe will take any and all legal actions to enforce the criminal laws of this state,\u201d Murrill said.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>Carpenter faces up to 15 years in prison and $200,000 in fines if convicted under Louisiana\u2019s near-total abortion ban, which criminalizes performing or facilitating abortions, including through medication&#8230;.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>Carpenter\u2019s indictment is believed to be one of the first criminal cases against a doctor accused of sending abortion pills across state lines since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>New York Governor Kathy Hochul has vowed to &#8220;fight like hell&#8221; to protect abortionists who send abortion drugs into states where killing preborn children is illegal.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/LAGovJeffLandry\/status\/1890078109199712727\">post to X<\/a>, Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry stated, &#8220;A minor in Louisiana got pregnant. She was excited to have a baby and was planning a gender reveal party. Her mom conspired with a NY doctor to get a chemical abortion pill in the mail and coerced her to take it. She ended up in the hospital. There is only one right answer in this situation: the doctor must face extradition to Louisiana where justice will be served. We owe this to the minor and the innocent life lost.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">A minor in Louisiana got pregnant. She ended up in the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>There is only one right answer in\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/qFOu3liTpm\">pic.twitter.com\/qFOu3liTpm<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Governor Jeff Landry (@LAGovJeffLandry) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LAGovJeffLandry\/status\/1890078109199712727?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 13, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><strong>2\/8\/25:<\/strong> A New York abortionist is in potential legal trouble for mailing abortion pills into two pro-life states. In the more recent violation, the abortionist sent abortion pills to a minor in Louisiana, violating that state&#8217;s law and resulting in complications which sent the young girl to the emergency room.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not the first time such a thing has happened, and it seemingly will not be the last, as the abortionist responsible has remained unapologetic \u2014 and politicians are stepping in to make sure that she and her colleagues face no consequences for their dangerous and illegal actions.<\/p>\n<p>And while the media heaps praise upon this abortionist and others like her, and politicians rush to protect them, what no one seems to be mentioning is the harm done to these young women and their preborn children.<\/p>\n<h3>What happened?<\/h3>\n<p>In two recent instances, abortion pills were mailed to pro-life states by Margaret Carpenter, a New York abortionist who helped to found online abortion pill dispensary Hey Jane (which also works with Aid Access), as well as the Abortion Coalition for Telemedicine.<\/p>\n<p>In December, Carpenter <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/texas-sues-new-york-abortion-pills\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sent abortion pills<\/a> to a 20-year-old woman in Texas; Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton filed a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texasattorneygeneral.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/press\/Dr%20Carpenter%20Filed%20Petition.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lawsuit<\/a> against her in response. Carpenter is not licensed to practice medicine in Texas. According to the suit, the woman experienced complications and sought care at an emergency room. She was found to have been nine weeks pregnant, and had severe hemorrhaging after the abortion. Until then, the child&#8217;s father <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texasattorneygeneral.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/press\/Dr%20Carpenter%20Filed%20Petition.pdf\">was unaware<\/a> that the woman had taken abortion pills to end their child&#8217;s life.<\/p>\n<p>In February, Carpenter <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/new-york-abortionist-felony-abortion-louisiana\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sent abortion pills<\/a> to Louisiana for a minor, upon request of the teen&#8217;s mother. A grand jury <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/new-york-abortionist-felony-abortion-louisiana\/\">later indicted<\/a> her. Prosecutor Tony Clayton said the teen had not wanted the abortion, indicating that she was coerced by her mother. \u201cShe was a minor and \u2026 she was excited,\u201d he said. \u201cShe had planned a reveal party. She had wanted to have this baby.\u201d Like the 20-year-old mother in Texas, the Louisiana\u00a0teen <em>also<\/em> experienced complications, and was transported to the hospital by ambulance.<\/p>\n<p>Following the second lawsuit, New York Governor Kathy Hochul responded by <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/new-york-anonymous-abortion-pills\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announcing<\/a> that she would fight any extradition attempts (ensuring that abortionists are protected if they violate laws in pro-life states)\u00a0and allow abortionists to send abortion pills to pro-life states anonymously.<\/p>\n<h3>Reaction from the abortionists<\/h3>\n<p>While Carpenter herself has not responded publicly to the controversy, one of her colleagues has. Julie Kay founded the Abortion Coalition for Telemedicine with Carpenter, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.glamour.com\/story\/dr-maggie-carpenter-has-been-charged-with-providing-a-criminal-abortion-her-colleague-says-they-arent-backing-down\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told Glamour<\/a> that they plan to continue committing illegal chemical abortions.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our organization was built to pass, protect, and expand safe, legal, and accessible telemedicine. We\u2019re going to keep on doing that. We know that these board-certified licensed clinicians are providing excellent care, and we\u2019re going to keep helping them to do that. We know that this is the fastest growing choice of abortion method for women in America, and so we want to respect that and help people access and have access to that choice,&#8221; she said. &#8220;We\u2019re really asking people to learn about medication abortion via telemedicine. A lot of people don\u2019t know what it is and don\u2019t know that it\u2019s an option and whether they need it for themselves or for others. It\u2019s really important to continue to learn about it and to protect it. ACT takes a real leadership role in that and takes it extremely seriously.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Abortion pills through Hey Jane, one of Carpenter&#8217;s organizations, can cost <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abortionfinder.org\/provider\/110969\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">as much as $400<\/a>. As Kay pointed out, chemical abortions are now the most frequently used abortion procedures \u2014 meaning that she and Carpenter&#8217;s entire business would possibly cease to exist without the ability to mail abortion pills out of state.<\/p>\n<p>So is their business truly about &#8220;providing excellent care,&#8221; or something else entirely?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/gnEHZiud8dg?si=TmQkZJlQLVA-q8L4\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3>Hurting women and being praised for it<\/h3>\n<p>While pro-abortion media outlets have heaped praise on Carpenter for her willingness to break the law, the reality is that women are being injured by this criminal behavior.<\/p>\n<p>The minor in Louisiana who received the pill was allegedly coerced into the abortion \u2014 something that is not all that uncommon; after all, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theunchoice.com\/coerced.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">studies<\/a> have found that 64% of women have been pressured into their abortions, with teens and girls admitting they were pressured by their parents or other family members to kill their preborn children. It&#8217;s also <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/mail-order-abortion-profiteers-coercion-myth\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">becoming more common<\/a> for men to slip the abortion pill to women in an attempt to cause abortions, without the women&#8217;s knowledge or consent.<\/p>\n<p>Telemedicine abortions not only put women at risk of coercion, but also put them at risk for <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/obgyn-severe-complications-abortion-pill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">serious complications<\/a> \u2014 as both of Carpenter&#8217;s victims found out firsthand. Gynuity, a pro-abortion research institute, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.contraceptionjournal.org\/article\/S0010-7824(21)00091-3\/fulltext\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">found<\/a> that six percent (6%) of women who took the abortion pill in a study required care at an emergency room or urgent care facility \u2014 and that is believed to be a low estimate, partly because women are <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/women-abortion-pill-freaked-out-recognizable-aborted\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">encouraged by abortionists<\/a> to lie if they do seek emergency help.<\/p>\n<p>And the risks for the abortion pill are substantial, despite what women are told. Frequently, the abortion pill regimen is said to be <a href=\"\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/fact-check-abortion-pill-safer-tylenol-viagra\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">safer than Tylenol<\/a>, but this is false. As Live Action News has <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/trump-restrict-abortion-pill-second-term-should\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">previously reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 25px;\"><em>Studies have shown chemical abortion to be <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/study-abortion-pill-four-times-dangerous-surgical\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">four times more dangerous<\/a> than a first-trimester surgical abortion, and <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/study-abortion-pill-complications-underreported-er-managing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">additionally found<\/a> that approximately 6% of women in at least one study [in addition to Gynuity&#8217;s] experienced complications severe enough to require an emergency room or urgent care visit. However, the real number of visits could be even higher, as women are encouraged by the abortion industry to <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-workers-lie-miscarriages\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lie to<\/a> emergency room providers and say they are experiencing a natural miscarriage as opposed to post-abortion complications (which then misattributes those complications elsewhere). And thanks to the Obama administration, any complications that <em>do<\/em> arise (other than death) are not required to be reported to the manufacturer.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/no-test-abortion-pill-protocol-access-safety\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">no-test<\/a>&#8221; abortion pill protocol championed by the abortion industry, which is what Carpenter subjected these women to, is even more dangerous. Without an ultrasound or any blood tests beforehand, there is no way to confirm gestational age, rule out extrauterine pregnancy, or ensure the woman has no contraindications prior to the chemical abortion.<\/p>\n<p>Recent studies have even <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/women-lied-abortion-pill-pain\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">found<\/a> that women are not properly prepared for how much pain they may experience during a chemical abortion, leaving them shocked and frightened at the amount of pain and bleeding they endure.<\/p>\n<p>Abortionists and those who enable them to break the law regarding the abortion pill are not empowering women; they are hurting them.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/actnow.io\/Vety0KE\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-325597\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/LA25DefundPP_EmailBannerAd-02-1-700x251.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"251\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/LA25DefundPP_EmailBannerAd-02-1-700x251.png 700w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/LA25DefundPP_EmailBannerAd-02-1-300x107.png 300w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/LA25DefundPP_EmailBannerAd-02-1-768x275.png 768w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/LA25DefundPP_EmailBannerAd-02-1-500x179.png 500w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/LA25DefundPP_EmailBannerAd-02-1.png 1167w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UPDATE, 2\/13\/25: Louisiana officials, including Governor Jeff Landry, have signed off on the extradition of New York abortionist Margaret Carpenter, who mailed the abortion pill to a Louisiana minor who was being coerced into an abortion.
