A premature baby boy who was delivered prematurely after his mother was fatally shot, has tragically died<\/a> just days after he was born.<\/p>\n

Baby boy Jes\u00fas Castrejon lived for about a week after his mother, Edith Castrejon, who was five months pregnant, was shot in the chest in her bed in the early morning hours of January 16, 2025, in Chicago. Edith was pronounced dead at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, but Jes\u00fas was delivered in hopes of saving his life. He was given about a 25% chance of survival but he sadly died seven days later on January 23 from complications of prematurity.<\/p>\n

The tragic situation began when Edith grabbed for a “ghost gun” kept under the pillow of her husband, Robert Pasco. Pasco, who was asleep, then allegedly woke up and discharged the gun, hitting Edith in the upper chest. Pasco hid the gun in a closet before police arrived.<\/p>\n
