A Dutch man known as a prolific sperm donor is being sued for trying to contact some of his biological children via YouTube.<\/p>\n

Jonathan Jacob Meijer was featured<\/a> last year on the Netflix docuseries, “The Man with 1000 Kids.” As a “serial sperm donor,” Meijer is estimated to have fathered between 600 and 1,000 children. He was banned from donating his sperm any further after a woman filed a lawsuit, claiming he duped her into using his sperm to father her child. Now, he is facing another lawsuit after parents say he is attempting to reach their children via his YouTube channel.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe has to keep away; that is what was agreed,\u201d mother Natalie Dijkdrenth, who initiated the lawsuit, told the Volkskrant<\/a>. \u201cJonathan is presenting himself as some sort of uncle, but he is really acting as a parent from a distance. He is trying to have a role in our family.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another complaint is that he is speaking disparagingly of the women who have used his sperm to father their children. He reportedly has identified some of the women by names and photos, calling them “bully moms,” “horrible,” and “aggressive,” while accusing them of “bad parenting.” Meijer was reportedly upset that some of the women spoke in the Netflix documentary against him.<\/p>\n

“<\/em>For example, he advises children to choose a partner who looks like them and who thinks like them,” Dijkdrenth said<\/a>. “He openly disapproves of certain parenting styles and promotes large families. Some children are extremely impressionable because of their age. As parents, we can do our best, but as a donor, he still has a certain attraction for them.”<\/p>\n

Dijkdrenth is working with Stichting Donorkind, an association for donor children, to sue Meijer. The organization said that Meijer is only allowed to contact his children through their parents, and not through a secondary means like YouTube.<\/p>\n

Meijer’s story illustrates just one of the major problems<\/a>\u00a0with\u00a0assisted reproductive technology<\/a>. As the biological father, he has a natural pull towards each child created with his sperm, but sperm donation muddies the waters, resulting in hundreds of “mass produced” children who are deprived of that natural connection, yet often want to know where they came from.<\/p>\n

The case is expected to be heard in The Hague on January 28.<\/p>\n
