(The Daily Signal<\/a>) \u2014 The Catholic health care system CommonSpirit partners with an online women\u2019s health clinic that offers abortion pills and referrals for surgical abortions<\/a>.<\/p>\n

CommonSpirit Health announced in 2021 it would partner with Ask Tia to create \u201ca new front door to health care for women.\u201d The partnership, uncovered by the pro-life organization Save the Storks, \u201cenables the two health care leaders to launch Tia-branded\u00a0women\u2019s health\u00a0<\/a>clinics together that will provide comprehensive, blended virtual and in-person care.\u201d<\/p>\n

In short, the Catholic health care system provides Ask Tia a conduit to promote abortion as a \u201ccommonplace<\/a>\u201d aspect of women\u2019s health.<\/p>\n

CommonSpirit Health\u00a0is<\/a>\u00a0the largest Catholic hospital chain and the second-largest nonprofit hospital chain in the United States. It operates more than 700 care sites and 142 hospitals in 21 states.<\/p>\n

CommonSpirit\u2019s mission statement promises to \u201cmake the healing presence of God known in our world\u201d and to \u201cimprove the health of the people we serve, especially the most vulnerable.\u201d<\/p>\n

After the Supreme Court\u2019s overturning of Roe v. Wade<\/a>,\u00a0Ask Tia announced it was \u201cexpanding our scope of practice to provide medication abortion through virtual visits.\u201d Founded in 2017, Ask Tia sends\u00a0abortion pills<\/a>\u00a0without an in-person appointment to women who meet its criteria.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe definitely want to be in the business of abortion,\u201d Ask Tia\u2019s chairwoman, Carolyn Witte, told\u00a0Axios<\/a>\u00a0in November of 2022.<\/p>\n

The online clinic is committed to \u201cexplicitly supporting abortion access by providing our patients with counseling covering any and all options (parenting, adoption, and termination), mental health support, and for patients who choose termination, well-coordinated care to trusted, high-quality abortion providers\u2014just like a referral for fertility services or obstetrical care.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the Catechism of the Catholic Church states: \u201cSince the first century, the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable. Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI am saddened that a successful Catholic healthcare system would partner with an abortion provider, negating their mission to serve the most vulnerable\u2014the preborn,\u201d Diane Ferraro, CEO of\u00a0Save the Storks<\/a>, told The Daily Signal. \u201cWe know that the Catholic Church values the sanctity of life, yet CommonSpirit is defying that value by backing an organization that provides abortions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ask Tia provides intrauterine device (IUD) insertion at its physical clinics, and\u00a0birth control<\/a>\u00a0prescriptions\u2014both of which violate the teachings of the Catholic Church. It also offers referrals for in vitro fertilization.<\/p>\n

Ask Tia operates\u00a0nine physical clinics\u00a0across New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Phoenix.<\/p>\n

According to Ask Tia\u2019s website, it specializes in health care for \u201cpeople assigned female at birth,\u201d but many of its providers specialize in \u201ccomprehensive care for people of various genders, including gender-affirming care and hormone replacement therapy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cf you\u2019re looking for gender-affirming care, Tia\u2019s care coordination team can ensure you\u2019re matched with a clinician with this training and expertise,\u201d the website says.<\/p>\n

Gender-affirming care is a euphemism for transgender medical interventions such as cross-sex hormone regimens and surgeries.<\/p>\n

The Catholic Church\u00a0teaches<\/a>: \u201cEveryone, man and woman, should acknowledge and accept his sexual identity.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ask Tia and CommonSpirit did not respond to The Daily Signal\u2019s request for comment about the partnership.<\/p>\n
