{"id":323561,"date":"2024-12-25T07:00:11","date_gmt":"2024-12-25T13:00:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/?p=323561"},"modified":"2024-12-26T21:53:31","modified_gmt":"2024-12-27T03:53:31","slug":"premature-babies-first-christmases-style","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/premature-babies-first-christmases-style\/","title":{"rendered":"Premature babies celebrate their first Christmases with style"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>Premature babies across the country have gotten into the Christmas spirit with adorable outfits shared on social media.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wlky.com\/article\/photos-nicu-babies-christmas-outfits-uofl-hospital\/63220004\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Louisville<\/a>, Kentucky, preemies in the UofL&#8217;s NICU were the stars of a photoshoot planned by NICU nurse Melanie Keefe.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox21news.com\/news\/nicu-babies-celebrate-holidays-with-cute-christmas-photos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Colorado<\/a>, babies were dressed up as gingerbread men, stockings, and elves and got a visit from Santa. The festivities are put together by the Celebration Committee, a group of NICU nurses, support staff, and volunteers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s challenging to spend the holiday season in the NICU, and providing a semblance of normalcy for families by dressing up their little ones for the occasion is so special. Celebrating these tiny fighters creates cherished memories for families that honor their babies\u2019 strength and resilience,\u201d said Erin Havrilla, MSN, clinical nurse manager in the NICU.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/vSmGGpttNfc?si=6Ymz58ShYZMVIuQL\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>At Christus St. Elizabeth in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=vSmGGpttNfc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Texas<\/a>, babies were swaddled up like snowmen and presents to celebrate their first Christmases.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wnem.com\/2024\/12\/20\/hurleys-nicu-babies-celebrate-christmas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Michigan<\/a>, at Hurley Children&#8217;s Hospital, got an early visit from Santa. Over at St. Francis Hospital, babies were dressed up for a fun Christmas photoshoot.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We want to create joy and memories for our NICU families,&#8221; said Kerry Thompson, NICU nurse at St. Francis who helped to choose the costumes and took the photos. &#8220;the last few years that we have been dressing the babies up for various holidays has been an uplifting experience for our staff and the parents.
