American Life League<\/a> is warning Americans that many popular charities have ties to abortion, and they should do their due diligence before determining their end-of-year charitable gifts. The organization created a watchlist to help them do just that, and this year, there are multiple unfortunate updates.<\/p>\n

The online tool, American Life League’s Charity Watchlist<\/a>, evaluates charities with a green-yellow-red color coding. According to a press release, this will “allow donors to know if they [can] ‘go ahead’ and donate to a nonprofit without reservations, ‘proceed with caution’ after being fully informed of the potential risks, or ‘stop’ any support of an organization that endorses abortion.”<\/p>\n

\u201cWe provide the Charity Watchlist to enable pro-life givers to fully understand what they are supporting with their dollars,\u201d said Katie Brown, American Life League national director. \u201cWe can be deeply moved by pictures of sick children or stories about disabled veterans and never know that the charity we support is financing programs that promote abortion or encourage anti-life agendas.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the Watchlist, due to the uncovering of new details, several popular charities that had previously received a green rating have been reclassified as red. This includes the American Heart Association, which partners with Planned Parenthood.<\/p>\n

The Wounded Warrior Project also previously earned a green rating, however, it now refers veterans to the Department of Veterans Affairs for abortions and has advocated for in vitro fertilization in Congress.<\/p>\n

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital also received a red rating this year.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s distressing,\u201d admitted Brown. \u201cSt. Jude Children\u2019s Research Hospital seeks support with heartbreaking pictures and stories of sick children, yet multiple members of the organization\u2019s medical staff and teaching faculty are ending the lives of preborn children through embryonic stem cell research.\u201d<\/p>\n

There are currently more than 150 tax-exempt nonprofits featured on The Charity Watchlist and American Life League plans to add additional charities as information becomes available.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Charity Watchlist is a significant project in the fight to defend life and the truth,\u201d shared American Life League\u2019s lead researcher on the project, Katherine Van Dyke. \u201cThe Charity Watchlist seeks to educate and encourage the public to know, discern, and challenge these organizations by making informed decisions for charitable giving, while providing donors with information about alternative charities that promote and support all human life and true charity.\u201d<\/p>\n
