According to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/opinion\/wanted-abortion-made-friend-who-saved-baby\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fox News<\/span><\/a>, Townes is now encouraging<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0other mothers to seek out friendship, support, and resources from<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/five-year-800000-lives-saved-pregnancy-centers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PRCs<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> during challenging pregnancies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In an op-ed titled &#8220;<\/span>I wanted an abortion. But then I made a friend who saved my baby,&#8221;\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Townes said she &#8220;felt overwhelmed&#8221; when she was expecting her fifth child because she and the baby\u2019s father had agreed to break up if she decided to keep their child. Unsure of what abortion would entail and what options were available to her, Townes called different clinics for information. She ended up walking into a Human Coalition center.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.humancoalition.org\/what-we-do\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Human Coalition<\/span><\/a>,<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> a non-profit based in Frisco, Texas, is committed to\u00a0 \u201cbuilding a pro-life, holistic, comprehensive care network to help rescue [abortion-determined] women and their children from abortion.\u201d The organization helps desperate pregnant women in \u201cabortion-dense cities\u201d with a contact center or hotline to connect women with nurses and counselors, women\u2019s care clinics, continuum of care, church outreach, market outreach, and education and research.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At Human Coalition, Townes met Jillisa, whom she described as a \u201cclose friend\u201d throughout and after her pregnancy. Jillisa doesn\u2019t hesitate to spend time with Townes when the busy mom is having a bad day or just needs to grab lunch with someone.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>READ: <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthoods-abuses-piling-up\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Cover-ups, discrimination, fraud, and more: Planned Parenthood\u2019s abuses are piling up<\/em><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The formerly overwhelmed mom shares that during her first appointment, Jillisa took the time to inform her of abortion and all it entails, along with the other options (parenting and adoption). Townes acknowledged that she really needed someone to confide in.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI left feeling completely informed, finally in control, surrounded by help and nonjudgmental support. I felt at home in that clinic. I felt heard,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Townes urges other expecting moms: \u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Start by finding someone who will thoroughly and patiently explain all of your options. Know what an abortion means, and how it works. Know the risks, and the recovery time. Take the time to explore your other options, too.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Townes discovered \u201callies\u201d and \u201ca village\u201d ready to support her and her baby at Human Coalition. \u201cI just had to ask for help,\u201d Townes admitted.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are more resources available to pregnant moms than they may imagine or expect, she noted.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI didn\u2019t know there were groups specifically for moms to support other moms \u2014 but Jillisa and the staff at the Human Coalition pregnancy center connected me with one. Eventually, those moms threw me a baby shower,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Townes discovered that, though she considered abortion, it wasn\u2019t what she \u201cultimately wanted.\u201d Jillisa and the other Human Coalition staff members provided her with what she needed \u2013 control, resources, and a home.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI just didn\u2019t want to feel alone. I wanted to feel I had support that could help me look forward to welcoming a baby.
