Torrey Moore, 33, was found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder in the death of his <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/maryland-man-charged-deaths-pregnant-girlfriend-child\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pregnant girlfriend<\/a>, Denise Middleton, and her preborn child. Moore&#8217;s conviction marks the first time in Montgomery County a murder charge has been given for the death of a viable preborn child.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors say Moore shot Middleton seven times when she was 38 weeks pregnant, just weeks away from giving birth to her first son, whom she had named Ezekiel. He then left her body in their apartment and fled to California for over a month. Police later found Google searches he had made, <a href=\"https:\/\/wtop.com\/montgomery-county\/2024\/11\/we-were-robbed-of-her-silver-spring-man-convicted-in-murder-of-girlfriend-unborn-baby\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">including<\/a>\u00a0<span data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">\u201cHow long does it take for a dead body to smell?\u201d and \u201cHow to move a dead body without being seen?\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">Moore eventually returned to Maryland and killed a convenience store clerk, which led police to his apartment where they <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcwashington.com\/news\/local\/man-convicted-of-killing-pregnant-woman-unborn-child\/3776324\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">discovered<\/a> Moore&#8217;s decomposing body.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe story is awful,\u201d Montgomery County State\u2019s Attorney John McCarthy said. \u201cThere is no way to slice it. This is a terrible case.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Middleton&#8217;s family <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcwashington.com\/news\/local\/man-convicted-of-killing-pregnant-woman-unborn-child\/3776324\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">spoke<\/a> during a press conference following the conviction.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ: <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/woman-life-sentences-killing-pregnant-preborn-baby\/\"><em>Woman gets two life sentences for horrific murder of pregnant mom and baby<\/em><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;My baby sister Denise was a loving and caring person, excited to have her first child, Ezekiel.
