President-elect Donald Trump has continued to announce those who will have roles in his cabinet, with Sean Duffy chosen to lead the Department of Transportation<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Duffy has been an ardent pro-life advocate during his time in Congress, speaking out against the high abortion rate<\/a> among minorities, and co-sponsoring a bill to defund Planned Parenthood<\/a>, the nation’s largest abortion chain. He was appointed<\/a> to the Select Investigative Panel on Planned Parenthood, which investigated the information disclosed in videos released by the Center for Medical Progress<\/a>. The videos showed Planned Parenthood representatives discussing potential pricing for aborted body parts, as well as potential ways to illegally alter abortion procedures to better obtain human fetal specimens for procurement agencies.<\/p>\n

Duffy originally gained fame with his appearance on the MTV reality show, “The Real World: Boston” in 1997, and later met his wife, Rachel Campos-Duffy, on “Road Rules: All Stars” in 1998. He holds a law degree, and was appointed Ashland County District Attorney in 2002 \u2014 a position he held until 2010, when he ran for Congress and was elected to represent Wisconsin’s seventh congressional district.<\/p>\n

In 2019, he resigned<\/a> from Congress after announcing that his preborn daughter, his and Campos-Duffy’s ninth child together, had complications which, at the time, were not disclosed. “Recently, we\u2019ve learned that our baby, due in late October, will need even more love, time, and attention due to complications, including a heart condition,\u201d he wrote in a statement. \u201cWith much prayer, I have decided that this is the right time for me to take a break from public service in order to be the support my wife, baby and family need right now.\u201d<\/p>\n

The couple later announced<\/a> that their little girl, Valentina, has Down syndrome.<\/p>\n
