Lincoln County School Board<\/span> has said the district will become<\/a> the latest in Tennessee to consider using LiveAction\u2019s <\/span>Meet Baby Olivia video<\/span><\/a> in its curriculum to comply with a new state law. The video will be presented to ninth graders in southern Tennessee schools, but parents will have the choice to opt their students out.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The \u201c<\/span>Baby Olivia Act<\/span><\/a>\u201d requires a curriculum that accurately depicts human growth, development and sexuality using a \u201chigh-quality, computer-generated animation or high-definition ultrasound of at least three minutes in duration.” The video must visually depict the \u201cdevelopment of the brain, heart, and other vital organs in early fetal development.\u201d The law took effect on April 24, 2024, and since then, <\/span>school boards<\/span><\/a> across the state have been taking up the issue of life and when it begins.<\/span><\/p>\n

The bill sponsor, <\/span>State Senator Janice Bowling, stated to <\/span>WVLT 8 of Knoxville<\/span><\/a>, \u201cI just think it’s wonderful, it tells the truth. They are getting true information regarding what\u2019s developing in the mothers who help everyone,\u201d . . . \u201cThere are grown adults that say \u2018oh that doesn\u2019t look like a baby, that\u2019s just a lima bean\u2019. Well no, that\u2019s just not accurate.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
