Country singer and Yellowstone actor Luke Grimes has opened up about his new role: that of Dad. Grimes says his growing family brings him “more joy than anything” \u2014 including his success as a musician and actor.<\/p>\n

Grimes welcomed his first child, Rigel, with wife Bianca last month. In an interview with PEOPLE<\/a>, he spoke fondly of his newborn saying, “Man, having my baby has changed everything in every way possible.”<\/p>\n

“I think people talk about your heart expanding a little bit every day, and it’s so true,” he went on<\/a>. “It’s like there’s a love growing inside of me that I didn’t know I was capable of, and it’s incredible and it’s scary because you have so much more skin in the game. You know what I mean?”<\/p>\n

Finding his heart opening up with the addition of a new baby didn’t come as a surprise to him, as he went on to say, “I knew one day I wanted to start my own family, and I knew that that was going to be where the real happiness came from. The other stuff was just going to pay the bills.”<\/p>\n

In speaking to Good Morning America<\/a>, he called fatherhood “the biggest event that’s ever happened in my life.” “I’m still processing how it’s changing me, you know, day by day.”<\/p>\n

The musician told PEOPLE his next album “will be very heavily influenced by having [his son] around,” adding, “That’s the biggest influence in my life right now.”<\/p>\n

He also shared the sweet way in which he and Bianca have grown closer after the birth of their little boy.<\/p>\n

“It’s brought me and my wife close in a way that I didn’t know we could be. There’s another level in the way that we love each other and how we have to be a team for this little guy,” he explained.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s been an amazing journey.”<\/p>\n
